I often eat a salad with a protein for breakfast. I also like sauteed veggies with eggs. Veggies are the best thing for me in the mornings because I start high in the mornings and go down during the day. I also sometimes make smoothies or a juice with things like cucumbers, kale and other veggies and a little fruit.

There are many other healthy choices! Yogurt is healthy, and you can mix in some lo carb ( low glycemic ) fruit. Sometimes I have a slice of low carb toast with peanut butter. Peanut butter is a good source of protein, and slows the absorption of carbs. By the way, nothing wrong with chili for breakfast!

No…don't do "whatever" you want. We all fall back on old or bad habits on occasion, so don't judge yourself harshly. Slow things down and take some of the suggestions you see here. There are very few medical professionals on this site, so accept everything as a suggestion. Nevertheless, I have learned a lot here and found many resources.

Let your relapse to old habits be temporary and keep coming here for encouragement.

Howdy Never
No I rarely eat veggies at my morning meal. I mostly focus on proteins like eggs, or other protein. For breakfast this AM I had cottage cheese with pineapple tidbits mixed in. (yummy)

I find it better to eat that way than to load up on frosted flakes in the AM

God's best . . .

I'll take my cottage cheese straight up (perhaps a little sea salt and fresh ground pepper) large curd, if you please.

Well jayabee52, we have at least two things in common, we both have diabetes, and we both eat cottage cheese for breakfast. I mix berries in it and sometimes a bit of cinnamon also. On the other hand, it is not unknown for me to have a breakfast salad, all though it doesn't occur to often. I'm sure some protein is good way to start the day.
