I haven't been on here for a long time. A lot has happened. Im now 16 almost 17. My mom just had a baby a few months ago and is now getting married in the summer. We are hopefully moving. I work hard to be on honor role and do competitions with shakespeare amd music and am in band and musicals and have an evil evil job at taco bell. BUT I finally kicked some diabetic butt and got my temps signed off by my doctors. But for the past two months I fell back into bad habits amd stopped testing four times a day. I got back into it about a month ago but my blood sugar will no go down and im eating with a good diet. Im taking CLAvitamins. Anyone have any input, suggestions?

there is not anything I can say that has not already been said, but I wanted to be sure and congratulate you on working hard in school and your grades and I think it is great when teens are in band and clubs in school, it really does make a big difference in their lives. Don't beat yourself up any time you get away from really good habits, we all do sometimes. My daughter is 12 and I am so glad that like you, she makes awesome grades, she is in the band also and in drama. Keep up the good work

Hey your the same age as me!! :) I go through the same things you do all the time you just have to push a little bit more to keep it down and I also have a hard time testing 4 times a day sometimes and my parents cuss me out for not doing it, :) I just make little goals to keep me at it to keep testing 4 times a day

I love your comment about the "evil job". Seeing that you have a good sense of humor will get you through a lot of things, even this temporary down swing. We all face it from time to time. Keep eating right, maybe kick a little more diabetic butt in exercise and give it a little time. Your body doesn't like to yo-yo so it might be waiting to see if you mean it.

Make sure that you recognize that all of us lose motivation on occasion and don't be punitive to yourself. Drop by and get encouragement from everyone here, or any other places that you find helpful, and just encourage yourself to always make your health your priority.

Howdy Ashley
C L A is technically not a vitamin, it is a "dietary suppliment". The only similarities between the two is they come in pill form. This is what WebMD has to say about CLA: "Conjugated linoleic acid refers to a group of chemicals found in the fatty acid linoleic acid. Dairy products and beef are the major dietary sources.
Conjugated linoleic acid is used for cancer, “hardening of the arteries” (atherosclerosis), obesity, weight loss caused by chronic disease, bodybuilding, and limiting food allergy reactions.
An average diet supplies 15-174 mg of conjugated linoleic acid daily.
How does it work?
Conjugated linoleic acid might help reduce body fat deposits and improve immune function." ~ http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supplements/ing...
