When I was dianosed my Dr. said I don't need to be testing. Long story short, she did give a prescription but it is not enough for testing even 2x a day. I am running out already. Is there anywhere I can order strips online at a reasonable price?
Thank you.

If you have a WalMart near you, they recently added the ReliOn glucose meter and test strips. The reader is only 16 dollars and the test strips are 9 dollars for 50 strips. It is the most reasonable I have ever found without a script.

Target has one also that is their Up and Up private label which is slightly more expensive, but still reasonable. The strips for that unit are about 12 dollars for 50 strips.

I have the ReliOn from WalMart and pick up an extra 50 strips every time I go there. I keep it as my backup monitor and strips if my allotment from my insurance runs out before I can refill. It's been awesome to not have to worry about testing too often.

It is crazy that insurance allotments are at levels that only allow testing 2-3 times per day. I don't know how I would manage my BS testing only 2-3 times every day. When my BS is high, I test 2-3 times within 5 or 6 hours.

Before getting my AccuCheck through my Dr. I looked at getting the ReliOn but heard they were not very accurate.

I've compared it side by side with my regular and I find it to be just fine. It is usually the exact same number or within 1-2 points of it. I have no complaints. I don't use it as my primary meter… I was driving myself crazy counting strips to ensure I didn't run out before my prescription refill was open.

Thanks. I did look at the ReliOn at Walmart. I will get one as a back up. I had no idea how costly this diabetes thing would be! Makes me angry I didn't try harder to prevent.

I am seriously considering getting ReliOn. My insurance pays most of the cost, but they went from my paying $30 for a 3 month supply, about 90 strips for a few yrs. to now I pay $30 for a "one month" supply and while I can afford that, why…I'd rather go cheaper so I posed the question on here recently and some answered ReliOn. That is what I am going to get. I currently use One Touch Ultra mini.
