I found out on Valentine's Day that I am pregnant. My boyfriend and I are very excited. My concern of course is being pregnant with diabetes. I started taking pre-natal vitamins yesterday and my blood sugar is up high again. But since I am still early in my pregnancy, I am working on bringing these numbers down.

Will do. I've gotten my sugars down to the 200s. Still a bit high but it's progress. I take insulin twice a day and it has been increased a bit. So hopefully with that and me changing what I eat. I can get them back in target range.

Congratulations! Having a very close relationship with your doctor is going to be a huge help. They need to keep a close eye on you, and you want to be eating extra healthy for you and your new bundle of joy.

You've gotten some great information here about a healthy pregnancy for women with diabetes. Work closely with your physician and diabetes educators, because as your hormone levels change during pregnancy your blood sugar management will also need to change. This is an exciting time for you and it's wonderful that you're working hard to have a healthy pregnancy. ~Lynn @Glucerna

Congrats I was preg but iblost the baby at 3 months I believe it was my fault tho I was under alot of stress with the boyfriend I was with at the time n scared at the same time. My numbers were really high they had to put me on 4 needles a day . Just take care of yourself n try your best not to stress …best of luck

Congrats to you both. I hope those numbers will come down. Some medications will make them go up.

I was taking blood pressure pills. But had to stop taking them because I am pregnant. The only other is my pre-natal vitamins and I just started taking those yesterday.

Congratulations Mirena!
I don't think I have to tell you that you need to be very careful with your Blood Glucose levels. Here is an article from the National Diabetes Information
Clearinghouse (NDIC) on diabetes and pregnancy ~ http://diabetes.niddk.nih.gov/dm/pubs/pregnancy/

The mother of my 3 sons was had gestational diabetes for all of her pregnancies and once we knew she had GD, she took precautions and all three came out healthy.

Praying for your safe and healthy pregnancy and a great outcome

James

Ashley…yep I was. I have periods where my blood sugar will shoot up. Then come back down to normal. Not sure why it's back up again.
