Hello everyone. In about a week I'll be going on an insulin pump and chose the T Slim or "Tandem Slim" pump. I was wondering if anyone is using this pump and has any advice, likes, dislikes. I have never been on a pump before. I'm 10 weeks pregnant and am looking forward to not having to give myself shots 5-7 times a day! Yay science.

I picked the Tandem for my 1st pump about 5 months ago, I wish I had done it years ago. I have nothing else to compare it to, but I am amazed by it. The only 2 draw backs I have had, is it does not 'reverse correct' for a BG lower than target; a number you set; and the preset low. I manipulate it by dialing back on the carbs I enter. The other draw back I've had is the Tconnect software and firewalls, but to be honest I am not an IT sort.

Thanks for this. I am new to taking insulin. What is "reverse correct"? Is that if I'm suppose to be at 95 before a meal but am at 85 it just assumes I'm at 95 and doesn't do anything?

yeah thats pretty much it. You can set your target number; mine is currently 110, and thats what all the calculations ; corrections and meal boluses, basals; all shoot for. There is a 'hard set' low number; I think 70, that you can't change. It won't stop insulin delivery, but it will reverse correct, or remove insulin from the dose if your below that, like at meal times. If you have any questions, message me

Pumping is marvelous!…but you will have to remember to bolus for your meals (instruct your pump to give you an insulin dose to handle the food you are eating) For that, you'll need to continue to be aware of the carbs you are eating. I'm using a Medtronic pump so can't discuss the Tandem but I think you'll just love the pumping experience. Plus it should give you better control. Wishing you and your baby well!

Been on a pump 30 plus years. Love it. Good about it no daily shoots. Not set to a time to take shoot. If hungry just test bolus eat. Bad tubing can get hung up on things. About being pregnant can't help. Good luck.
