The "Consumer Reports" magazine gives this evaluation of glucose meters:

Consumer Reports gave the meters ratings in three categories: Consistency, Accuracy, and Ease of Use. Here is the break down of the different meters:

Compact Plus VG VG G
Ultra Smart G E E
Nova Max F E VG
Freestyle Lite G E VG
Aviva G G E

Breeze 2 F VG G
True Track G F G

Key: Excellent (E), Very Good (VG), Good (G), Fair (F), Poor (P)

Angie, I use the Free Style Lite too. I like it very much. I also like the relion meter and it got good ratings too. It is sold at walmart and the strips cost only 42 cents apiece. That is less than half the cost for a Free Style strip. I get Free Style strips free from my insurance then when I run out of them I buy and use use the Relion strips until my next shipment of Free Style strips arrives.

I noticed the Accu Chek was not in the list. I have no idea why. I have a hard time believing Accu Chek is not a good brand. they have been in the business a very long time. I started using Accu Chek many years ago and then switched to Free Style in 2006

Thank you Richard. I have a WalMart trip planned tomorrow and I will check on this meter! I have to test 5 times per day and it's costing a small fortune. Thank you again for making me aware of this. Your friend, Angie
