Some food for thought -

'If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep you are richer than 75% of this world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish, you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy .'

'And if you get this on your own computer, you are part of the 1% in the world who has that opportunity.'

'If you woke up this morning with more health than illness … you are more blessed than the many who will not even survive this day .'

'If you have never experienced the fear in battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation … you are ahead of 700 million people in the world.'

'If you can attend a church without the fear of harassment, arrest, torture or death you are envied by, and more blessed than, three billion people in the world .'

'If your parents are still alive and still married …you are very rare .'

'If you can hold your head up and smile, you are not the norm, you're unique to all those in doubt and despair.'

Blessings to you.

Thanks for this. I've seen it before but it's good to see again for a refresher. I don't have issues with depression but I am a worrywart when it comes to finances etc… So seeing this again reminded me that I'm pretty rich by some standards across the world.

You're right…this has been around for a while. I just received it again today and thought it might help us to keep things in perspective. Thank goodness I do not currently suffer with depression, nor have I for some time now, but I definitely have had periods of it over the years during particularly rough times.

You're so sweet. I'm very happy if this gave your a little perspective and lift. Alabama folks have to help each other out and keep each other pumped and going. I sincerely appreciate your comments. There are a number of folks on here that I rely on for friendship and good infor, and you're certainly one of them. Hope your BS is more in line and that you're feeling better.

Thank you so much! Today has been sooooo much better. I have had 71, 72, 141 and 178 today and I test again at 9pm. I finally felt like driving back from my parents 3 1/2 hours today (Gulf Shores) and now I'm so glad to be home. I had been typing from my blackberry since Wednesday so I hope you could understand me! I hate typing on a phone. Your friend! Angie

Aaaaah. The beautiful Redneck Riviera! Spent most of my younger days on those beaches. Miss doing that. Hope you had a nice trip. And glad to see your numbers up a little. I hate text messaging on my cell phone…don't own a Blackberry. I can't stand even a laptop. Want a full size keyboard. My youngest daughter would DIE without her Blackberry!

Can't vouch for the stats, but the idea and the point to be made is still right on the money. We just take all of our blessings for granted sometime. My volunteer work with those in need certainly helps me stay grounded and very, very thankful.

A very powerful litany. Thank you for sharing this. I think all of us need to be reminded of this so we do not forget to offer a prayer of thanksgiving.
