Hello everyone, my name is Chris Brose and I'm a student at the Herron School of Art & Design in Indianapolis, Indiana. I am currently in my senior year, working toward a degree in Visual Communication Design. I am working on my Senior Capstone project that I will be continually working with from now until the end of April. For my project, I have decided to devote this semester to researching and understanding the day-to-day experiences of diabetics. My goal is to create a design solution that makes the transition from the lifestyle before diabetes to the lifestyle after being diagnosed easier. I have not had any personal experience with diabetes, but being a former smoker, I know quite well just how hard it can be to make lifestyle changes, and would like to hear from some of you and your first-hand experience with diabetes. I have a few questions prepared that will begin the foundation for my analysis and synthesis for possible solutions. Please let me know if you're interested in helping me in any way. Questions can be answered through email, and can be fully confidential if you wish. Please be in touch with me if you have a little time out of your day to help me help others! Thank you for reading!

Howdy CBrose
I don't want to be a wet blanket here but if you read discussions across the website here (as I have for the past 5 yrs here), I don't think your project will bear much in the way of concrete ways to facilitate the transition.

However I would be willing to try to assist you. Please accept my forthcoming friend request so we can communicate privately here. The community advocates here discourage giving out one's email address, phone number or other personal info. So if you wish to communicate privately here one has to be friends.

One person who may give you some insight would be Dr Gary: ~ He is a counselor for people who have received a diagnosis of a chronic disease. You might invite him to be your friend. and contact him via Private mail here.

Praying God's best for you and yours

James Baker

interesting … must say that dealing with diabetes (about 4 years) and quitting smoking (a year ago) are not remotely similar
