Food verses Diets

As strange as this seems, it really works for me and has many years. Instead of worrying about what type of "diet" I needed to be on I just decided to eat as much of the "good" stuff as I wanted. I called it my "5-S-Diet". Five food substances that starts with an "s". Starches..Sugars..Salty (no extra)..Soda drinks..Shorting (Fried foods). That is all it is to it. Eat all the rest that you want to. Think "CLEAN" foods. Frozen/fresh vegs, plain frozen/fresh meats, frozen/fresh fruits, water & flavored water (Lots of liquids). Guess will loose weight while not seeming to try to.
I do need help in other areas, but wanted to share this long lasting approach. I stay from 4.7 - 5.2 (something) when I have labs. All of you know what that means. I just know I needed to stay 7 or under. One time I told my Dr. that I can't get up to 7 how hard I try. He explained that 5 was better than 7. DUGH…

Dear IronOre,
You just helped me to understand #1 better. I have a niece that is a type #1 and she surely has to live in your world. Thanks for your comments.

I am type 1, and you pretty much hit it on the head, but maybe without realizing why.
Some of the things that you mention are high carbs foods, and for a type 1 diabetic (like myself) that is the thing that is the thing on the nutrtion label that determines how much insulin to take.
For myself the tricky part is to not ignore everything else on the nutrtion label, because they affect a person too.
