As the holidays end, and the long winter ahead with not much to look forward to, I am hearing from friends about the severe depression they are going through. If you hear this or spot it in a reply, they would not normally make; send them a message of support.

I am so happy you agree with me, and one of the people in particular that responded does need our help, that is why I posted, I care about everyone but when I hear such painful depression that alarms me; I want to do something more. And we are miles away and that makes it so hard to go personally to offer help. To anyone I talk to; You are all so far away. Thanks again everyone and stay alert and aware; everyone needs someone.

I agree with you all. I get depressed sometimes for a few days at a time but I manage to pull myself out of the slump. I know we should listen and spot a problem and try to help even if we are far away.Sometimes we just need to let someone else hear our problems and some how this does help. I am offering a helping hand to anyonr that needs to use it.

I get so tired of thinking and living my childhood problems and then my illnesses that I depress myself. I would much rather try to help someone else if available. Another way we can help is instant messaging. I am on yahoo, and my email adress is; small; if anyone really needs to chat. My computer goes with me these days. It is like a part of me, at least my laptop. Happy to offer my help, Claudia

I myself sadly to say am in depression. I'm having a hard timne dealing with it. I have a few good friends who picked up on this an have helped me tremendously. I am so happy go lucky. that alot of people don't realize that we too go through depression. Good discussion and I know for one I myself would of never replied to this , but it is something I myself needed to address this and know it was happening to me!..

Count me in as a friend. I, too, suffer from depression, and if you ever need to chat just about nothing, I'm here. Sometimes it good just to have someone say hi too.

What a great idea! I sometimes have seen a discussion listed that seemed that when I read it, to not be exactly what it seemed. It made me want to read between the lines and ask what was really going on.

Your idea has also brought to my mind that sometimes people are asking medical questions that they REALLY want some input on and they are being somewhat ignored. Not that anyone meant to ignore them, but during the holidays not as many people were on the site as usual and some people were asking questions that only were getting read but not replied to.

Maybe we could go back a bit and see if we could help out answering the questions if possible.

AGAIN!! This is another of your excellent ideas for discussion. Thanks again!

This is a very good idea. I know what it is like to be depressed over the holidays. Sometimes just a short note to say hi may cheer someone up.

Wonderful thought. We all have our own times of feeling down and, perhaps, alone, but some really do have very serious depression issues, and they definitely need support and encouragement. To anyone experiencing that right now, know that God loves you more than you know, and that there are those of us who care about you and want to be there for you in whatever limited way we can. If you wish to do it in a more private way, just send individual messages.
