Hi thanks for your question. I am not taking both yet but I was hoping it was a possibility . I have been having trouble keeping my sugar under control and seem to hear a lot of positive things about januvia. How is it working for you? What type of insulin are you on? I am on novolog 70/30 and actos and glimermede… hope to hear from you…
Thanks Dyanne

I have not been such a good girl over the holidays and I am not very mobile at this time so exercise has been very limited and I know what a difference it can make. I used to be able to control my sugar with exercise. I was in a bad car accident a few years ago… and weight and exercise have gone down hill unfortunatly…

As far as I know, Januvia hasn't been studied for use with insulin so isn't an approved combination and any issues with that combination aren't fully known. That's not to say doctors won't prescribe it but they should justify why they think it's needed and another approved combination won't work.

I am on insulin and janumet which has metfromin in it. Isn't Januvia like metformin. I could be wrong.

Janumet is a combo of metformin and januvia. Januvia is nothing like metformin although it does do a similar job on the liver, among other things.

By researching Januvia or looking at the paperwork you get with your prescription you should be able to determine that…or by checking with the pharmacist. However, I would think your doctor would not prescribe both if you were not able to take both.
