New Year Resolutions

Just curious … how many of us make New Year resolutions ? Did you guys want to share some of them with the rest of us…?

Mine are really daily ones that I do already but I want to loose more weight, get under 6 for my A1c and be more active. When the weather warms up I am going to go to the farmers market more and eat more veggies and fruit and cut out alot of the meat we eat. I think I am going to stick with fish and chicken.

Good luck to everyone and hope we stay focused on our goals this year,it's not going to be easy and we're not going to give up,it's ok to cheat a little sometimes…but stay on track.

Hello, To Quit Smoking. Me and my best half have tried twice now and holidays with memories tripped me up.So this time I am past the holidadys and it's a goooooo.
We are quiting together it is easier that way.
I am so gun ho about this. Time to feel better.

If it's okay, I'll be praying for you, as I know that's not easy. But it is definitely something you need to do, so gung ho! Full speed ahead! Thank God I've never been tempted to smoke. I have family members that I pray will stop, but so far no luck. Good luck to both of you!

Sailor quitting is one of my goals for this year but it's tough,so I'll just take it one day at a time,I have been doing really good,weeks go by and I don't have a cigarette…so I know I can do it…Huuray to you Sailor…good job.

I don't make resolutions. I never seem to be able to keep them. I take one day at a time. It's easier that way for me.

That's the way I prefer it, but…whatever "floats your boat" and works for you is the way to go. As long as you do something to better yourself and the world.

Doing it this way doesn't stress me out. I don't put the limits on myself so I get depressed if I fail.

It has been years since I made any. I used to make a list every year, but never seemed to follow it. Now I just make them all during the year and find that much easier for me. One at a time is plenty for me. lol

I guess making them works for some folks and not for others. I don't make "official" ones, but just try to improve in all the areas where I know the improvement is needed. It's good to set specific goals, as long as you realize and accept the fact that you're going to have a glitch now and then - that you won't strictly adhere to your resolutions/goals. As the experts always tell us, we need to set realistic goals, and then be able to forgive ourselves and keep on keepin' on when we get off track once in a while. Don't allow yourself to be overcome with guilt and give up. In any event, we can all improve in some way and should always be moving in that direction, with or without written specific "resolutions". Good luck with yours if you're one who does this.

I must say I totally agree with you Lad Di.In a way I think of it as these are my goals for the New Year but these are my priorities and anyways I'm sure that 90% of those who make resolutions don't strictly adhere to them…we all cheat at times…lol

Keep better track of my eating and lose about 50 lbs. Get my sugar #s down and keep them down. Exercise more. By the way where do you live? At my house in southwestern Ohio it's 12/31/09 at 10:10p.m. Live well in the new year. Lisa Ann

I have never been one to actually make any, but I have over the years made had I wanted to change or make better, and the fresh New Year seemed to motivate me to work on those. Not set in stone, but just a few things in mind to improve upon. Think we always need to be working on being better in whatever way we can. What about you?

Next year I want to keep my BG down by being more physically active and losing about 30lbs,also I want to keep a calendar of my daily activities,what I eat,drink etc.

Good for you. All things that are very important. Sometime it's easy to get lax and discouraged - especially when we "fall off the wagon". But we have to keep on trying, don't we? Good luck! I know you can do it!

Yeah I know the feeling sometimes we get depressed and say what the heck let's have some chocolate cake..lol.I have done good staying away from cookies and chocolate.Today I made a West Indian fruit cake and had to have some it was delicious.

That cake sounds delicious! Don't tell anyone, but I had McDonald's french fries at lunch today…something I rarely allow myself to do. My tummy complained about it for several hours afterwards too! I'll do better tomorrow! Stick me a slice of cake in an envelope and send it to me, will you?
