If you use insulin on a regular basis you probably will gain 8 lbs. But even if that is true, it's still important to keep taking it like you're supposed to.

From my experince when i wasn't putting my insulin I would loose weight but it was very unhealthy and whenever i started putting my insulin according to how it should be i gained weight insulin is a hormone so of course you gain weight. thats why they want you to be active. I gained like 10lbs once i started putting my insulin the way I should have been

Just don't get caught up in skipping insulin to lose weight. I did this for wrestling and thought I was so clever. Very, very unhealthy

Howdy Ashley!

IF one does not balance their carbs with their insulin, one can gain fat. (gaining weight could be from muscle or from fat)

However one can keep fat gain at bay by keeping one's carb intake balanced with their nutritional needs.

Some T1s (as I have read here on DC) think that they can eat all the carbs they want and cover it by injecting ever increasing amounts of insulin. Usually they develop rolls of fat and seem to wonder why.

I pray this has clarified the issue for you

Its a little more complicated than all that, but more insulin should cause more weight gain

as a type 1, without insulin, your body can't use any of the food you eat, sooner or later the body starts to attempt to live off fat cells and then muscle tissue, but the cells can't use any of it without insulin, you literally waste away
