Good Morning DC!!
This is my first "sickness" as a diabetic. I'm not sure if this is a sinus infection or a cold, but I feel like crap! I just tested and I'm 66. I've read that normally diabetics get high when they're sick… Also… I'm on Metformin, Lisinopril, & Simvastatin - and not sure what kinda OTC meds I can mix. When should I go to the dr? I am not falling over about to die, but I don't want this to get to that point either…

Thanks for any advice :)

I have not gotten sick yet since being diagnosed but that's what i heard too, that your blood sugar levels rises but it seems like yours is low. honestly, i feel better when my BS are high over LOW's but both are bad. *hugs* i hope your doc can help ya.

Unfortunately, this year is the year of more virus's, at least here in my neck of the woods. I am like you in the fact that my metabolism seems to run higher when I am sick and I am more prone to lows. Like Gabby, Fluids, Pharmacist and rest. Mine turned into Bronchitis. Had to go on antibiotics and an inhaler.
Also, don't forget the power of a good chicken soup.!!!

You can talk to your pharmacist about what OTC you can take. They will help you with interactions the most. For me, if it's a cold, I just drink a lot of hot teas, get lots of rest and try to keep my carbs down a little extra. I usually run high. Your 66 is low, so you may want to test a little more to keep an eye on that.

Most doctors will tell you to stay home if it's a cold. There is not a lot they can do for it. However, if you think it could be a sinus infection, then you want to go so they can take a look at that.

Hope you feel better soon!!
