So what's everyone do for snacks? I've come across a issue I don't eat enough. So when I do eat my scores go throw the roof and take forever to come down! But I can't think of anything I could just throw in my purse to snack on while I'm on the go which is always. But I need something or I'm going to be in the same boat. Even if I have to make it and bag it myself that's fine as long as I can have it on the go! HELP

if youre always on to go, why don't you get some low carbs candy and or granola bars? i know its hard because the healthy snacks are so f'in expensive. what i do is bring water and just eat my tablets when i start to shake and eat my candy.

Raw almonds, carrots, a small apple, low fat yogurt, lightly salted peanuts or pumpkin seeds, cheese sticks with 2 crackers, small fruit cups (they have them with no added sugar) sugar free jello or pudding cups.

I take a handful of low salt peanuts. Atkins or south beach snack bars are low in carbs n easy to carry. Glucerna snack shakes are good too

I pretty much live on unsalted dry roasted peanuts like Harlen said. Good balance of protein to carb. Beef or turkey jerky is a favorite too.

I usually make some trail mix with mixed nuts & dark choc chips in it. Or granola bars. Fruit snacks. Protein bars. Skinny cow snacks. There's tons of stuff

I have the same problem ashleyrose. Some times I take a pita and spread it with hummus and add strips of green and red pepper or whatever and wrap it the night before in saran wrap and its good to go. Mostly, because I have such a bad memory and dislike kitchens (lol) I slam together a P Band J on whole wheat. Actually, PB and whole wheat is one of my main meals.
I have no idea why they can't have a diabetic section in the grocery store with snacks and good food choices. There are so many of us..

Some supermarkets have them depending on where you live. The one I go to has one as do another that is out of the way but I go there also. If you take a diabetes education class and learn to read labels, you can shop in any grocery store. Stores don't have them because people won't speak up and say what they want. Have you contacted the manager of your store or the company that owns the store. They may not know there is a demand for a diabetic section.

The longer you dislike kitchens the harder taking care of your diabetes is going to be. Diabetes is only hard if the diabetic chooses to make it hard.

Pita can range in carbs from 15.60-63.50 for regular pita and whole wheat can range in carbs from 15.62-47.43 depending on the size of the pita.

When I was pregnant that's what I did was roasted peanuts… I may have to go back to those :( they get so old tho! And fast! I wish they had a mini fridge! Lol maybe I'll start keeping a cooler in my car with fresh veggies like tomatoes and fruits

Keeping a cooler in your car is a great idea, and I do this all the time. That way I have the food I want, when I want it plus it's healthier for me. I like to think 'mini meals' instead of snacks as that helps reinforce that mini meals can provide balanced nutrition just like a meal. ~Lynn @Glucerna
