It is once again a new year and time to set some goals and resolutions. I always hate making new year's resolutions because I feel bad when almost every year I fail to reach them. But I have learned something over the years that has helped me stick to my goals better. If we don't set goals at all we have nothing to work towards and if we aren't moving forward we will start sliding backwards. So, even though I don't love setting goals, I do it every year and throughout the year so that at least I have something to work towards. It is ok if I don't reach it as long as I am moving forward instead of back.

So lets hear it, what are your New Year's Resolutions?

Gosh … I usually have set in place a few. Well, the last two resolutions I made, thank to God… I accomplished.
One was to quit smoking and the second was to lose weight in addition to taking my HEALTH serious.
Happy to share - I have accomplished these two.
I haven't gotten to my complete weight loss yet, but I continue working on it. I feel so…,. much better, lots of energy, happier out-look at life in general.
I guess my next item on my bucket list is to completely wean my body off of the meds I attained as a result of my T2.

I stopped making New Years Resolutions 20 years ago. I am more of an earth person. I prefer to make changes and set goals when the seasons change. This is a time of rebirth. Setting goals in Spring is a fresh start, flowers are budding and so are many of my goals. Summer is when the flowers are blooming and my goals are flurishing. Fall is harvest time and many of my goals have been accomplished. Winter is a time for reflection and looking at what new changes can be made.

In setting short and long term goals, gives me time to achieve the short term goals and looking forward to the completion of long term goals. No matter what kinds of goals you set, you may have to modify the original plan. Never set goals and expectations so high you cannot accomplish them.

My New Year resolution is to finish last year's resolution. Can't make a new one if the previous hasn't been fulfilled. My new one for this year though is that you all see your resolutions to fruition. Happy New Year DC fam!!

I hear ya. That one is a hard one. I've cut it down to 1 or 3 a day. Can't seem to quit completely though. I will continue to try.

Mine started about 2 months ago with my 1st pump. My A1c will get below 7 and WILL be maintained at 6.5 at most, for the 1st time ever. Not really into New Years resolutions, but it was time for a big change.

Yup! Whether it's numorous goals or just a couple it's all the same. Having something to shoot for is the point.

Get my a1c down to 5.5 if possible. Started at 6.7 and got done to 6. Working hard and it's paying off

Grats to you! Got mine down as well. Never thought I'd see the sixes so was pleasantly surprised when my doc gave me the news. But yes, 6.5 is a good place, but I can do better.

Okay Hayley13. Gonna try to remake what I was saying to you earlier. Unbeknownst to you all, my internet connection failed me once again.

At any rate, I hear you about your sugars. Even though I went from highest in the 300"s to low 200"s, I still wasn't happy. Now I wake at 120+ fasting and I'm still angry…haha.

Keep asking around. There are numerous of DCers who have the same thyroid condition. Many have info to offer, many want to talk about it.
