Diabetes and flu
I am a Type 2 diabetic who has contracted a bad intestinal bug. Most of the foods I usually eat when this happens have sugar and I am trying to stay away from foods like unsweetened apple sauce, saltine crackers, or soups. I drink a lot of tea and broth. Any other suggestions?

Did you call your doctor?
Yes and was told that right now, don't worry about the carbs. Just try and kick the bug
Typical response. They want you to treat your own sypmtoms then when it turns to pneumonia they ask why didn't you come in sooner. I have not had the flu since I was in 2nd grade back in the 60's and cannot get a flu shot. I have had sinus infections and chest colds. The doctor gave me antibiotics but it was hell trying to keep the carbs right when you are sick and don't feel like eating. I did broth and saltines then switched to cream soups and saltines they made me at least feel like I ate something. Hope you feel better soon.
Saltines only have about 2 carbs per cracker. Even as a type 1 I eat them when I'm sick, 5 at a time/per hour. And diet ginger ale helps a bit.
Thank you for that information. That really helps.
