I agree, being 19years old and having type 1 diabetes is horrible! It puts such a burden on my social life.

Choose fun foods and only eat what you need to- the toppings off the pizza, the cake of a cupcake- skip the icing, veggie chips. Introduce your friends to your foods and learn to cook. You can bring new recipes to parties and show everyone that fun can be healthy.

If your friends don't support you, then they're not your friends. Simple. Real friends will respect what you do- explain it like an allergy- someone allergic to peanuts just can't eat peanuts, gluten, strawberries…they're still silly and fun. You need them to be supportive in case you have a situation and need their help. I'd let my closest friends' parents know too. So they don't panic if you go low or need assistance.

If you value fun over hour health then do what you want then regret it later…I used to be like you too and guess where I'm at now? HERE. It's going to hit you sooner or later. Be glad it hit you when you were younger, you have more time to change than me. I know change is hard but if you appreciate and love life; you should do what you have to. You can still have fun and don't need to eat like crap, and or drink. If the people you hang around with think you're boring etc. Then I suggest you to find better people to hang out with who will support and help you be healthier.
