Happy Holidays! I hope all of you have had a great week and that you've been able to spend time with friends and family.

Thanks to all those who joined in last week's FITBF discussion about your morning blood sugar numbers. That was kind of fun to just share how everyone is doing. (Here's the link if you missed it: http://www.diabeticconnect.com/diabetes-discu...)

As we approach the beginning of a new year, my mind has been filled with ideas about how we continue to improve Diabetic Connect. So I thought today's discussion would be a great time to get the opinions and ideas of those who come here and use the site. So please complete the following statement to help guide us as we try to keep the site improving.

One thing I wish this site did better is …

I would like to see more "kid friendly" recipes. Being on a tight budget, its hard for me to cook for kids AND myself, so I end up eating unhealthy. This is not my only problem but being able to cook healthy meals for the kids and I would be great.

Someone mentioned the annoying ads. I saw the one from Alliance Health for the Free Diabetic Cookbook. It is a downloadable book. In order to get the cookbook, I had to fill out a questionaire, view other things and answer some questions. I thought about it. If the book is a download, why do they need my name, address, birthdate and all that info. It is not being mailed. I gave up they can keep the book. Don't say the book is free then ask a lot of questions just to get it. It is almost like the old bait and switch scam. They lure you into the store with something at a good sale price then switch it to something else. If the book is free just give people the book. It isn't rocket science.

Joyce.
Thanks for your feedback. Every member of Diabetic Connect should have received a link to download this recipe book when they first joined. I just private messaged you and gave you the link again to download it.

I would like to see a place for links to helpful sites that we find out there. A one stop shop so to speak. There is a lot of great stuff shared in discussions, but those get buried, having a running list or categories or something like that would be great. They can be vetted by the admin, but it would be nice to have a place to go to to find things we are searching for.

I just got 6 emails from theladyiscrazy who liked a post for this discussion. I could understand it if she liked 6 different discussion but these were all sent at different times for one discussion. I know it wasn't her fault, it is the site doing this. This didn't use to happen but it does now regularly.

We've been working on notifications and trying to get all the bugs worked out. Thanks for your feedback. We'll see if we can get that fixed right away.

I wish they had the old way to track discussions. I haven't followed them in a long time for this reason.

I do to Joni. I remember getting an email for a discussion when someone responded to you and when you opened the email it went directly to the response. Now you have to search through what everyone says before you find the response from the person in the email.

The ads are annoying, although they probably fund the site. I am also experiencing emails stating someone has replied, only for it to not show any replies to my post. I remember this site being much more active when I was here in the past. Seems very quiet but maybe that is due to the holidays.

I just got 6 emails from you at different times saying you liked my response to this discussion. I know you didn't do it. Does this happen to you also? This didn't use to happen but does now with everyone who responds to my post. They need to fix this site. It is a mess.

I wish there were more type 1s. I often feel like I give/get advice and it really isn't applicable because the two types are so different. Perhaps a site only for type 1s? A spin off…

I wish this site would get fixed. I get emails saying someone responded to something I posted only to find out they didn't. I also wish they would fix the app. It will not work on my smartphone even with tech support assistance. Works fine on my Tablet, Laptop and PC.

I wish the site had more people aka be more active. Either my phone isn't updating anything or this site is dead. I come on everyday through my phone and refresh and I don't see anyone writing until days later. What are other diabetes sites that are more active?

It was at one time before they started pushing adds and taking away all the fun out of it , making the site hard to navigate .

I agree with you Harlen all you see is ads. The bar on the bottom is the stupidest of all when the same information is on the top of the screen. This site use to be fun and easy to use now it sucks a lot of the time. I get the OOPS screen a lot and tech support is useless.

You're right. There are several more active sites. Just search diabetes support groups. You'll find several. It is interesting here though. Just because people don't post doesn't mean they aren't experiencing the same concerns and learn from merely reading the posts of others. They're just "lurkers" and sometimes they gain a little confidence and contribute. So, if you choose to look elsewhere, I encourage you to stay here too. Several "frequent fliers" post extremely useful and interesting information. I'm sure you've already seen what I mean and who they are.

I don't spend much time here any more .
Sorry that it have to the wayside
