We are going back to the way we did in Nov. Hopefully everyone joins in. You don't have to post weight or steps if you don't want to. Just tell what you want all to know. And ask for help when you need it. Also feel free to give suggestions to help us if you see where you can help someone.
Always remember to encourage everyone and praise those that post on here. We have some that might post small numbers of steps or other stuff that may not seam like much to others but remember they may be recovering from Surger,recks or something else so please encourage them all. Also if there is something that is working for you please share with us so we might also try it to see if it works for us. I for one will try anything once and more if it feels right to me.

Yeah stay away from all food as it don't matter what I eat it just jumps the numbers up and down. I burned my hand during makeing supper so I won't type alot here as the pain is so bad from moving the hand typing. It is ok if I not use it. I am going to bed early tonite and then start fresh tomorrow as if I was controlling it with diet and exercise again and see what happens. I need to put my pictures of 2 of my sisters back on the frig again to keep me on track like old times. LOL

How's it going Edie? How are your numbers, have you been able to get back on your meds? What's happening? My numbers fluctuate wildly as well and I am on medications, of course I am t1 which doesn't help. This am it was 96! Yey! I went for a walk yesterday for 1 mile and I plan to do it again today if the weather holds. I don't have a pedometer anymore. Did someone find out where to get the free ones? This am I had two slices of bread with peanut butter and my green tea and lemon juice (also known as California tea). For lunch I plan to have my chicken noodle and vegetable soup with french bread and for dinner I plan to have a big salad with tuna and hard boiled egg along with my fresh lettuce. Hopefully this will keep my blood sugars in control.

I'm not posting my numbers today as I have run out of all Meds and my numbers are back above the 200 mark even starting out the new day. I will post again my numbers when I am back on meds. Sorry for the mess this causes everyone as I am ashamed of how I have let everyone down on this site. I will get my meds again and be more careful in the future. Again I'm sorry for the trouble I may have caused anyone.

You can't control what the pocket book does to your medicine cabinet Edie. You have not let us down, you just show us that there are so many out there who have to choose between meds and other things we need to live. I am always worried that next month I won't be able to afford mine, and mine are cheap! So I try to eat like I don't take them, so I can at least maintain some control if something like this should happen.
Don't loose heart. Is there nothing your doctor can do for you? Is there something that may not be as effective but still help when you can't get your insulins?

My numbers are hopping around again as I am now out of Humalog too. The vial i was using got cloudy and had a white substance in the bottom of the vial and Now all I have is the Lantus. My number was 114 this morning and now it is 361 I took my Lantus and I will see where I am tomorrow. I had fish sticks and potaotes and onions with beets for supper and then had homemade doughnuts for dessert. I had 6 holes and one large doughnut. If my numbers are still high tomorrow morning I will skip any doughnuts and any other sweets for the day. I walked up to the mail box this afternoon all bundled up and my lower back and base of my skull was throbbing when I got back and my chest was starting to hurt also. I laid down for about a half hour and the pain had subsided and the chest pain was a dull ache. Don't have any pain of any kind tonight.

while your numbers are so very wacky, I would stay away from beets, potatoes, pasta, and sweets. Your insulin helped you control your spikes with those foods, but if you don't have them now, I would avoid those and eat much more low carb until you can get back on your insulins. Don't mess with those numbers girl...you have been doing so well. I don't want you to damage yourself

I'm sorry I am so far behind. I will post my numbers for Blood sugar from the 15th to this mornings number. And give you some idea of what I have been eatting. I have a log book where I can post before and after meals in it so I know when I took my BG tests and that is how I will post them here.
After Breakfast on the 15th my BG level was 208 and I took 10u of humalog before supper it was 196 I took 18u of humalog and we had chili last Thurs for supper with corn bread It looks here that I forgot to take my Lantus before bedtime.
On the 16th I checked my BG level only once that day and it was 125 before breakfast and I had rice for breakfast. I have been so hungry for rice that I fixed it with milk and a little sugar onit. Now on Sat. the 17th My bg was 104 after lunch I don't remember what I had for lunch that day but it was something that kept my numbers down and that was good. then at bedtime it was 135 and I had 2u humalog and 80u Lantus and went to bed by 10:00
On Sun.the 18th My BG level was only 60 at breakfast and I finished up my extra rice and warmed it up in the Microwave and added 2% milk and splenda I rechecked my meter and that was the only test I did on Sunday.
On Monday the 19th I checked my BG levels 4x it shows in my log book so here goes: Mon. before breakfast 131 and I ate some rasinbran with 2%milk and splenda with a cup of hot cocoa. After lunch it was 271 I took 16u Humalog, I had Taco Salad for both lunch and supper and before supper my BG was 90 and at bedtime it was 255 I took 14u Humalog and 80u Lantus
Then on Tues the 20th I had a BG level before Breakfast of 133 and I took 2u of Humalog I ate one bowl of frosted mini wheats and then after Supper my BG was 253 I made speghetti for supper and I had a large helping of it. Before I could get another helping I put the leftovers away and as no one else ate when the meal was done they didn't get an supper I called both Bill and Gerry to supper and they didn't get off of their butts so I said the heck with it and put everything away. I took 14u of Humalog and then I went into the sewing room and picked it up some more I didn't test again that nite but I did take my shot of 80u Lantus and went to bed at 11:30 not good I lost track of time. I have to get up at 4:00 in the morning to have Gerry to work by 6 I didn't test my sugar at all on Wed. but I was on the go all day and it never stopped till after 5 I took some breaks to get on here but not for long at each sitting. I had for breakfast a bowl of rasinbran with 2% milk and splenda and for lunch I grabed some spaghetti and was on the run again and then for supper I fixed meatloaf, roasted Garlic mashed potatoes and mixed Vegs.
Now this morning my BG was 149 I had 8u Humalog and 2 slices of Toast with margarine and peanutbutter and one slice of bread with a polish sausage on it I ate that on the way to takeing Gerry to work. I am now drinking Ice water in a 32oz.glass.
I'm sorry for not staying ontop of this discussion as If I don't use it like I should how is it going to help me lose the weight I need to lose. I checked my weight at 8:00 and I am down to 253.0 pounds I am loseing some but not like I want to. I will do better from now on OR FEEL FREE TO JUMP MY BUTT FOR SLACKING.
Thankyou for giving me this time to post what I have and I hope it helps others to keep better track of what they eat and remember to weight your self just once a week and also every month Try to keep it the same day of each month. Like the 1st Sat. or what every day you would rather do it. It helps keep us on track to accomplish what we want to do.

Ok here is the rest of what I ate today. for lunch I had a ham sandwich on white bread all we had in the house and a glass of ice water. I made up 2 liters of reg. lemonade and 2 liters of pink lemonade and haven't gotten any of either yet. LOL then for supper I had bbq beef and mac and cheese with califlower and broccoli for the vegie. I am so proud of my self After supper my BG level is 183 8u humalog. Not bad the number is still below 200 tonight. Yaaaaaa I am doing well for tonight.

Edie, don't worry about how much you loose. Just focus on getting your BG in control and keeping it there. The weight comes off eventually as long as you are making good food choices.
I have been very ill, family sharing kooties and everyone has had it but my mom...so I am sure she's next. Yuck. My numbers were really high today, but being sick makes that jump. I hope that as I recover so will my numbers.

JP wanted to know what day we could group chat to get our diet on board. I thought that sounded like a good idea. She is only available in the evenings. Think about a day a week that we could get together. I think we are in just two time zones, Debe and I in EST and you and JP in Central. I am game on any evening but Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday.

Didn't wear pedometer yesterday and wasn't doing alot of walking I finished up the second side of Gabby's quilt and then took pictures of it and the other side together. I had a 96 before breakfast and a 328 before bedtime. I had a lot of stuff I should not have ate yesterday.
I ate a bowl of cereal for breakfast and a piece of pickled bologna with crackers and then I had a hot dog sandwich with cheese on it and a turkey sandwich also for lunch. for supper I finished off the chile from supper the night before. That is it for yesterday will do better today I promise.

Ouch girl...are you still off your insulin? Is that what happened? I know when I was not on meds, I had to be very careful with my carbs. I still do, but without meds I have to even more. I have never seen you get into the 300's. No trips to the hospital for you!

I went to bed about 10:30 and spent most of yesterday finishing the second side of Gabby's quilt. Sorry I got caught up in the sewing of it Gabby and forgot to call you. As soon as I get off of here I will try to call you.
Now for yesterdays numbers:
Steps: 9580 Alot of going back and forth to the sewing machine and frontroom doing my pinning at the couch and talking to Bill as I pinned.
Miles: 3.931 Lots of walking today. LOL
Calories burned: 258.6 most in awhile I have burned.
BG levels were

Breakfast was bowl of frosted shredded wheat and 2 glasses of OJ then Morning snack was pickled Bologna with (crackers) White Chedder Cheese its
Lunch was polish sausage on wheat bread and OJ and a diet pepsi
After noon snack was a baggie of popcorn at the car repair garage and Ice water to drink.
Supper was Chili Mac with corn bread and ice water to drink
Bedtime snack was pickled bologna again with the cheese its and a diet pepsi I went over the limit of my pepsi yesterday so none today as I already drank todays pop yesterday. LOL
My BG level this morning was 96 So I am starting out alright with out the byetta and now I need to use the meal doseage of Humalog as well as the number doseage to keep the BG level down. I will see how that goes again. I will let Dr. Know on the 5th how it is working.

I did an experiment today with cream of wheat. I had not tried it since being diagnosed and thought...why not.
I am hoping that my med cocktail is kicking in. had mixed numbers but two nice low ones...for me anyway. Getting there, slowly and surely.

I am thinking metformin with every meal might serve me well...I will see. I visit my DR in Feb, and maybe we will make the adjustment then...or better, maybe I won't need it!

I am also trying new stuff to get my numbers down and going slow at it. hopefully it works soon. I eat Cream of Wheat all the time with the grinder cinnamon. I got tired of oatmeal. And I stay in range. I usually have a piece of rye toast with honey with it. 2 hours later I am around 150 or lower and I take metformin and amaryl in the mornings.

I think the walnuts in it helped me get my fats to slow those carbs down. It did better than I thought it would.

I am glad to hear that and I love cream of wheat, malto meal and other hot cereals except oatmeal. The only way I eat oatmeal in the mornings any more since as a child is with margine and brown sugar as we ate it 7 days a week way back when now I only use it for no bake cookies and reg. oatmeal cookies with splenda not sugar. I also use splenda brown sugar it is better for me than the reg. sugars.

OK the first thing I'm going to do is post here for today and then find that information on the free pedometer and then post it also On Gabby's Free Stuff Discussion. If I find more than one site I will check them out and post the best one or two then.
Now on to my numbers for today
calories: 223.2
I had to run back and forth from the ironing board to the sewing machine working on Gabby's quilt so that is why I got more steps today.
BG Levels
breakfast:63 before I had 2 pancakes scrambled egg and one smoked sausage bun length.
Lunch:259 after I had 2 tuna and egg salad sandwiches with a can of diet pepsi
supper: 193 before I had one half of a boneless skinless chicken breast with salsa on it and one serving spoon of mashed potatoes and green beans. Will check bedtime BG in about 1/2 hour and post it also at the end of this posting.
I finished my Byetta yesterday and now we are seeing if I can get the numbers down without it as it can cause problems in the pankreious and I don't need any more meds than I already take. LOL I am already a walking drug store no more thankyou.

I would like it if everyone could keep my Husband Bill in your prayers as about 2-3 weeks ago he started having trouble seeing and now we find out he needs eye surgery in both eyes to fix the problem. Thankyou for doing this and keep all of us here also in them for our fight against this Disease. We all need all the help we can get every day and the best hellp in this world is God.

Now for my bedtime BG is 87 not bad for today. I will try to do better tomorrow at lunch time.
Having trouble finding a free pedometer but an working on it. Have sent a message to one of the sites that had had them but don't now and will keep on trying to get us some.

I'm sorry I have not been posting every night. One of my new resolutions is to have hubby time, and we have no computers, no tv...just us. I really like it.
Anyway, here are the last couple of days. I think the Metforming twice a day is helping me out. Of course, exercise does the most for me.

I am so glad today I got up and my sugar was in the upper 80's before breakfast and then before lunch it was in the low 90's I think that is going good now.I will post everything later and see how I end the day. I've got some more sewing to do so am getting off of here till this evening. bye bye

I'm back and here is everything for today. BG levels for today are as follows: Before breakfast 84 I had a bowl of frosted Mini Wheats and a cup of hot cocoa
then before lunch it was 95 and I had 2 sandwiches one was a cheese burger on wheat bread and one was a fish fillet with tartar sauce one wheat bread with a diet pepsi.
before supper it was 287 I had Taco Salad and water and then at bedtime it was 78 I had 12 Nilla Waffers for my bedtime snack that was the only snack for today. Now for my counter numbers:
Miles: 3.055
I did alot of walking today between the front room and the sewing room. I have almost finished the second side blocks and strips and will sew everything together tomorrow and Monday. The whole quilt will be ready to mail on the 28 of this month to Gabby. I'll post this side on Monday afternoon. It keeps me busy and gives me exercise at the same time and I need that to stay on my feet and moving. I am so glad I found something to keep me busy.

If you are still having problems with low blood sugar you might want to take a reading before you go out for a walk (to avoid the possibility of a hypoglycemic crisis)

i need to get help with strips for my contour TS. My husband us now taking his BG about 4-6 times a day with readings of 300-500+) the meds didnot workin the hospital and we are taking "alternatives". However, i need some strips and cant afford them. any one have ideas or sites??

Sorry I have not been on as often as I like so now I got 3 days worth of numbers to add to here so lets get started. On Jan. 7th I had bowl of rice crispies and cup of hot cocoa for morning snack I had applesauce and then for lunch I had a sandwich and diet pepsi and then for supper I had chicken nuggets10 of them with augartan potaotes and french green beans for pm snack I had popcorn for the whole day I only had 6u Humalog and 80u Lantus and 5mcg Byetta my BG levels werebefore breakfast 89and at bedtime 162 I was out of the house and forgot to grab my kit before leaving the house. Had court at 1 and had to leave and eat on the run. Went better than I thought it would. Gerry gets his visitation back and Joe can't stop it this time thru the welfare Office. LOL
counter numbers are as follows:
ON Jan. 8th
Breakfast:one english muffin with peanut butter
Lunch:goup and grill cheese I burnt it,but ate it too. LOL
Supper: Taco Salad
No snacks today
BG levels: before breakfast:140
after breakfast 127 Before supper 178 and then at bedtime: 102
counter numbers are as follows:

Now for today
I had a bowl of rice crispies and a cup of Hot cocoa for breakfast.
Lunch I had soup and then went grocery shopping after I got bill home from an eye Dr. appt. He has to have eye surgery everything went blury 2 weeks ago. Found out today he has cataracks in both eyes and needs surgery on both inorder to see again.
supper we had fried potatoes and onions with bbq pork steaks and cream style corn. Bill wanted this for supper so I made it for him.
My BG levels for today were after breakfast 274 I don't know what happened but it was up this morning.at bedtime it was back down to 160
counter numbers are as follows:
calories:78.5 I sewed most of today so not as many steps as the days before. Have more sewing to do tomorrow so The steps will be low again.

I got results from my first lab in over 3 years. It was bitter sweet, shall we say. Pass the chocolate! LOL I did not loose any weight over Christmas, but I did not gain any either, for that I am greatful!
Now I get to figure out how to lower my triglycerides as well as my glucose...it seems they are linked. I hope so, and as one is better controlled, maybe they both will be.

Fasted for DR appt.
30 minute walk with upper body exercise.
6:45 AM: 190
7:30 AM 190 with one meter, 209 with my new meter...same finger even.
2:10 PM Lunch: 140
Lunch: Salad with ranch dressing, veggie caserole, flat earth baked chips, turkey and water with lime and stevia
5:45 Dinner: 214
Dinner: Kelbalsa, wild rice, broccoli and cauliflower, unsweet tea, PM vitamins and meds.

Now my meds are changing. I am going to be taking 500mg Metformin in the morning AND the evening. I hope that helps more. I am also going to start a thyroid med to increase my thyroid activity. That is something I am just finding is linked to a lot of issues like diabetes and heart issues. Oh Fun....LOL I am glad I am good friends with my pharmisist.

OK here goes nothing. Yesterday I didn't check any numbers or wear my counter. I did walk 3 1/2 blocks in town thou and stoped by the Drs. office to get some samples he and the Nurse were really busy and could not help me so I walked over the the Barbar where bill was getting his hair cut. I got to coughing real hard and started having chest pains again so no more walking like that till I can get some of this extra weight off. Most of this year will be going the Natural way to controling my Heart,sugar, BP and Chol. Also my Nerves. I am kicking evryone out of my life it they keep putting me in the middle of their problems and causing me more health problems. I do not and will not accept any more bull shit from family or friends in my home area. They act like the only time I need to see them is when they are having problems and that only I can help them no one else will listen to the crap and this year I won't either. My BG level this morning was only158 it could have been over 200 like it was awhile ago. but I am going to fight it as best as I can with what ever I have at hand. When I can get the meds I will other wise it is all Natural this year. Had a late breakfast so just now thinking of eatting a late lunch. probably just a sandwich with a pepsi. Supper will be at the reg. time and a healthy one at that. I'm fixing fish fillets and french fried potatoes baked with greens for the veg. tonite. No dessert as I was bad at ate to much last week in the line of sweets. See yas later and will post the rest then. No counter on today so it is only the steps I took inside today and to and from the truck to take Gerry job hunting. Sorry I did not make it back before I went to bed last night so I am finishing this up this morning. My finial number for yesterday was 229 I took 12 units of Humalog and 80 units of Lantus before bed. I will post later today with todays numbers if I remember to that is. I have on my counter today and will be working on Gabby's quilt for most of the day. So my steps will be low more than likely but I will get in as much walking inside as I can we have alot of Ice outside now and I don't want to fall again this winter so no out side exercise today at all.

I am so lucky that I live where I only have a few cold days to deal with. I look forward to the cool to be able to do yard work without looking like a beet. LOL. I have been trimming and clipping and weeding...busy. Keeping busy to take my mind of not being employeed at the moment. Gives me a chance to catch up.

I walked over a mile, but my pedometer is still giving me grief. I can't seem to find a good place to wear it where it won't pop off or stop tracking my steps. I am going to try the ankle. I also worked in the yard today, trimming trees and pulling weeds. More of the same tomorrow and planting some veggies and herbs. Any suggestions from any of you out there are more than welcome.

Hoppin' John is a New year's stew of black beans, pork, onions, redpepper and spices. It is supposed to bring us good luck. I have been making it for about 5 years now, every New Year...so far I don't think it works so well. LOL

okee dokee. I am going to post a few new ones over in our recipe section. I will do Hoppin John too. You are supposed to cook up collard greens with it, but I just have never aquired the taste for those.

OOOOH! I am a true southern girl, i love me some collards made with smoked ham hocks. Yumm-oooo. And some cornbread. I am in heaven. Hoppin john is great. And if you do not want to go to all the trouble. There is one in the rice section of the store. Cannot remember the brand but it is very good. If you add some sausage or chorizo you cannot tell the difference.

Well my numbers started off well enough at 62 before breakfast. I had 4 pancakes and a small dish of applesauce 2 hours later it was 207 before lunch it was 203 and I had soup and grill cheese sandwich witch I burned. Oh well I ate it anyway. supper time I ate 2 pieces of pizza from papa Murphy's the cowboy one it was good and then I have been drinking lots of water today. No pepsi today. just now I checked my BG and it is 228 not good. Will try better tomorrow.
My counter numbers are as follows:
steps: 2823
Miles: 1.158
calories: 76.2

My back is still hurting from yesterday so I didn't do much today will do better on this also tomorrow.
Sorry if I am slipping so soon after the first of the year but it is winter time and I am always not so good this time of the year.

Yesterday morning when I got up my sugar was at 111. When I went to bed my sugar was 127. These numbers are good for me. I usually stay in the range of 100 at my first reading in the morning and not over 130 when I go to bed. That's not to say I haven't gone over 130, but that is my normal. I can usually tell when my numbers go out of whack. I'm not perfect, so I'm not saying that I have never over done it and my numbers have gone up, but when that happens, I correct myself immediately!!! If I don't, no one else will!!!!

Your right there. we all have to accont to ourselvs for how we do and if we don't want future problems with our Diabetes we need to stay ontop of things more. Sometime staying on top of things don't help either as the numbers still go up and down never where we need it to be.

Ok here is my posting for today. I only posted my numbers 2x today so before breakfast 58 then for Breakfast I had a bowl of rice crispies and a cup of hot cocoa for lunch I had left overs from supper last nite and the rest of my soup from lunch yesterday and a can of diet pepsi. Then for supper I made pork steaks and Alfrado pasta and sauce with spinach and a can of diet pepsi which I finished after the meal. At 8:45 I checked my BG level again and it was 74 so all in all my numbers stayed low today I beleive. Now for my pedometer numbers:
steps: 4201
Miles: 1.723
calories: 113.4

I seen where they recomend that we work toward 10,000 steps aday. If we get there that is ok and if we can't that is also ok. Some can walk more than others while some of us are lucky to get to 4,000 most days. I know of a few that are lucky when they get to 100 steps even, recovering from Surgery, an accident, or just a real bad infection can get us down sometimes so lets cheer on everyone this year for doing their best no matter what it is.

P.S. I can see I am going to have to watch my numbers closer as I may be haveing the same problem I had this last summer when my numbers bottomed out So Tomorrow I will check before each meal and 2 hours after each meal to see what happens. If the numbers are bottoming out again I will call the Drs. Office on Monday and get in as soon as I can.

Breakfast bowl of cherrios with 2% milk and splenda.
Lunch bowl of beef flavor ramon noodle soup and a diet pepsi
Supper meatloaf,mashed potaotes, mixed vegs.and mac & cheese desert strawberry and rubarb pie small piece.
Numbers today
106in the A.M.
200 before supper
and 159 2hours and 15mins. after eating supper.
Meds I used today breakfast and supper 5mcg.Byetta and supper and bedtime 12u humalog and bedtime 80u Lantus then I took my pills in the A.M. that I needed.

Remember is doesn't matter how many steps you do,all that matters is that you are taking steps and as your able to increase those steps.
Keep us posted how you are feeling before those steps and after. before I started today I was down and now I'm up and feeling like I made it to where I wanted to be tonite.
I love eveyone one here and I hope we can help each other stay up and pumped for this coming year.

Edie, I noticed you ate ramen noodles for lunch and I want to share something I have been doing. While the noodles are cooking add some broccoli or spinach and mushrooms or all 3 then when it is done drain off most of the water and then use the spice packet. It makes it more of a meal and you get the veggies too. Hope you like that idea.

Two thumbs up!! I'm a pasta lover which uses ramen noodles as a pasta substitue. We prepare our noodles in almost the same fashion. (Boil/drain/rinse) Using the noodles as the base ingredient, tossing in artichokes, black olives, tomatoes, feta cheese etc… We choose not to use the seasoning packet, rather adding fresh herbs mixed with olive oil for a light dressing. Makes a great little dish to toss in the office frig for a light lunch. Experiment with your own flavor of ingredients. Chicken, baby shrimp & fish are tasty toppings as well. ~Enjoy

Ahhh, new day, new year. Thanks goodness! LOL
I sat this morning and started my new log book and wrote some basic goals for me this year. My first one is that I am going to watch my protion sizes. I have been loosing weight just by changing what I eat, now I want to continue by watching more accurately my protions. I hope my numbers will be happy with that too.
My next one is that things I am supposed to do every day...that I DO them EVERYDAY. Gee what a concept. LOL
Finally, I plan to keep experimenting. I learn so much when I am my own guniapig. It will be an interesting year. I tuned up my pedometer and got a fresh start on things.

mine has a place where I can adjust the clicker inside. I think it was too loose and gave me too many steps. So my steps will be out of wack today, because I reset it a few times, but tomorrow it will have a full day.

Good Morning All I am watching the Rose Parade this year. Bill usually watches other stuff but this year we are watching the Parade so far it is beautiful. I used to watch it with the kids when they were small. I am wearing the step counter today so will be back later with the numbers and meals to start off the New Year with.
May all of you that read this get something out of it to help you with your fight to control this Disease. I am reading everyones Replies and copying down what works for me to use thru out the rest of my life.
