PROTOCOL FOR DEALING WITH THE FLU AND OTHER WONDERS OF WINTER

I know that many diabetic teams have a standard "protocol:" for dealing wth sick days, off days, etc. Being as I have once again only gotten the flu when I've gotten a flu shot (I must get the not yet dead variety of the flu shot) I am wondering if anyone has a good protocol other than keep drinking, work to keep sugars under control and get better.

I know from protocol we had 30 years ago that raising basal rates on an insulin pump (or raising the daily dose of long acting insulin) will provide some level of coverage but there is the extra need of insulin for a given amount of carbs, the dealing with suymptoms going up and down, the dealing with loack of movement, etc.

I\ll look tomorrow to see if I can find anything printed on it, but curious to see the protocol people are tuaght to use (and what they really do)…

Thankfully I have not had the flu since the early 60's. Doctors will not give me a flu shot. They think I must have some kind of antibody that prevents me from getting it.
