I have periodic bouts of constipation also.Usually in a day or two it will abate on it's own. The last few days, however, I could not get things to "move"; so i went to my doctor. He did the usual DRE and then had me do an enema, use a supository, and prescribed a softner. Last night was a true pain in the ——. This morning the impaction released and all is fine for now. I still feel a little groggy today as I did not get much sleep last night due to the methods employed.

Howdy Anon

I have IBS - A (Alternating between constipation and diarrhea) but mostly i have constipaton. I am also on dialysis which tends to cause constipation. I have continued a regimen of stool softeners, (docusate sodium) and find that if I forget I have difficulty passing the stool due to it being extremely hard and unusually large. I need to keep taking the stool sorteners about 2 100 mg softgels per day. If I haven't had a BM in about 3 days then I up the dose to 2 softgels in the AM and 2 in the PM until I have results.

I know the uncomfortable feeling. I really can't think about anything when the feeling of constipation is nagging at me.

I Pray you get relief soon!
