Just wondering if anyone else may be having issues with artificial sweetener , Ive seen some of the warnings on the internet, and have myself had symptoms in the past and know others who also have issues , also am thinking of just giving all the artificial sweeteners up, will miss some yummy goodies but is it worth it?

MY THOUGHT IS IF IT IS CHEMICALLY TREATED TO OR MAKE UP FROM CHEMICALS … DO YOU WANT THAT IN YOUR BODY? I CAN'T EVEN SAY MOST OFTHE WORDS…I WAS TOLD ONCE "IF YOU CAN'T PRONOUNCE IT, DON'T EAT IT". MEANING IF THE CONTENSE HAS WORDS YOU CAN'T SAY THEN DON'T EAT THAT FOOD.
I HAVE MY HUSBAND AND I (MIKE IS THE DIABETIC) USING STEVIA AND NOTHING ELSE. WE BUY IT IN THE 100 PKG CONTAINERS AND HE USES IT UP IN ABOUT 28 DAYS. I ALSO HAVE THE BAKING STEVIA TOO. IT IS A TRICK TO CONVERT HOW MUCH TO USE. THAT IS MY TWO CENTS WORTH.

I have a 4 y/o son who was diagnosed with Type 1 shortly after he turned 2. I discussed with his endocrenologist about artificial sweeteners and the fact that I don't use them and never will. I personally get migraines everytime I eat/drink something with aspartame or sucrolose. He said that they are not good for you and if you can find a healthy alternative you should. We found a product that comes in single serving packs (like crystal light) made with stevia. You just mix a packet with a bottle of water…my son and other kids love it! It's made by true lemon. http://www.truelemon.com/products the black cherry limeade and raspberry lemonade are the ones we use. You can also use stevia for baking.

My doctor advised me if I am cracking a sweet drink, I could do crystal light + water, and even a diet coke but overall, stick to water. I have been doing good with just water but I noticed most of my headaches has to do with my new meds I am taking or caffeine withdrawal, so I drink soda/pop. Also, there are some crystal lights now that has caffeine in them. I have no problems with sweeteners though.

I personally have had difficulties with Splenda (Sucralose) if I drank more than two cans with that as the sweetener. I got the "laxitive effect" aka "Hershey squirts" when I drank it.

Because there has been studies indicating that non-caloric sweeteners may cause weight gain, I had given those up long ago. I'd rather use a little sugar than the non-caloric sweeteners (even the so called natural sweeteners).

Just do some research on the Internet. What you find is super surprising but it's definitely worth giving up sweets or just taking extra insulin!

Yes there is a chemical taste I detect, sad thing is after you partake for awhile you stop tasting it, Now I have to over come what i feel can be addiction to these artificial sweetened goodies, I also have felt the uncomfortable tummy bloating
My daughter found a list of symptoms from the internet I know I've experienced , I guess it's best to stay natural fruit and veggies:)

I've tried every one on the market, I've got over $30 of sugar substitutes in my cabinet and don't touch any of them. For starters I just can't get past that "chemically" after-taste they all have. Splenda, sweet n low, aspartame give me near instant migraines and Truvia/Stevia even in teeny amounts causes me serious tummy issues.

Hi Amy. Hope your Thanksgiving was a good one. Mine was. Blew my diet, but one day is ok. I didn't overdo it though. if you get stomach aches from sweeteners, maybe you're using the wrong ones. They did it to me before, but I have just recently tried Truvia, and it is really good. There's one you use for everyday and there's one for baking. I'm buying both next week. Just wished those products were cheaper for those who are on low and fixed incomes. I feel as if we are being punished with these high costs due to our diabetes. But I refuse to use anything with aspartame. It is really bad for you!!! I don't buy anything "diet" or low fat—it most likely contains aspartame. So read ingredients before you buy. Besides, diet drinks & foods make you hungrier, especially for the wrong foods. I think it's because of the aspartame, and aspartame has been found in the brain cells of patients with alzheimers & MS. It is bad stuff. It also causes problems with memory loss. I was drinking diet pepsi for a long time, and when my friend gave me some papers on aspartame, I quit drinking anything diet and within 2 months my memory improved almost 100%. So I haven't gone back to anything diet. It was a real wake up for me, then just a month ago I was told I'm diabetic! That really sucks! I don't need this too! I.m overweight & have HBP, and now I,m told that I need an ultrasound done on my right breast because something questionable showed up on my mammogram. Ever since I quit smoking a year ago my health has gone downhill, and same has happened to my boyfriend.
Well, have a wonderful weekend.
