To Pump or Not to Pump...

Those of you that wear pumps, would you ever consider going back to injections or not? I've been injecting (successfully) since I was diagnosed about 8 years ago. I'm identifying pros and cons with both methods and I'm interested in your experiences and opinions.

I personally prefer not being attached to anything and seeing as how my a1c is fine I don't see any problem with staying on injections. One thing I would be concerned about with having a pump is actually the extra freedom when it comes to eating. Since taking an injection requires a few extra steps I tend to reevaluate what I'm eating and I'm pretty sure that's what's keeping my weight good. I think the pump would give a better a1c though. If I ever get passed the "being attached" aspect then I'll probably get a pump, especially since they're adding the CGM device to some of them!

Great feedback. Yep, that is where I'm at right now. My numbers are great. I would sign up for anything that saves me time and effort. Maybe if the pump included a CGM that would entice me to get a pump. Here is what I want… A device that is so smart and automated that as soon as I even look at carbs, it knows I'm going to eat them. It automatically tests, injects without me doing anything… Sounds lazy, I know but I'm so sick of it. Just venting. Thanks so much for all the advice!

I've been on a minimed pump for about 5 years now and I would never turn back! It gives you so much more freedom, I love it so much better and your numbers stay more consistent.

I'm new to the Tslim and love it, still getting dialed in and numbers are already sooooooo much better. I feel much better than I did on MDI. One thing I don't hear mentioned often that I like is not taking Lantus anymore. To me, the less artificial things you put in your body, the better.

I have much better #s with the pump and use 1/2 the insulin

I use the Omnipod. I like the pump because I can adult my background insulin according to my activity.

Good to hear. I tried 3 different pumps about 7 years ago and didn't like the look and feel of being tied to a device. I definitely know there are great things about having a pump… I'm thinking about trying one again… Gathering pros and cons to decide. It's great that you love it! Is there anything you have trouble with?

I hated the idea of getting a pump..but now that I'm on one I seriously would never change it for the world! I got the omnipod and I'm in love with it. ???
