I have read in some diets that cider vinegar can help you to loose weight but was not aware it would lower BG's, The old wives tale is that vinegar dries up the blood, on the rare occasions I have chips my husband moans if he thinks I am using to much vinegar, so would also like to know the real fdact and others opinions. x

Hi! Sherelle112, I have had cider vinegar, but I don't think that I've lost any weight from eating it but that sounds grate! but knowing that it will lower the A1C wow. AWESOME!!!! Thanks for putting this out here for me to see it because I am always looking for more foods to help me to lose weight and to help me eat better. Thanks :) <3

I'm another who tried it and no good results. At first, I thought it was doing something but realized it was all in my head. Plus it just tastes aweful, no matter what liquids you put it in. Truth is, it may work for some but just didn't work for me. So, while I didn't have any succes with it, doesn't mean the same is true for you. Try it and decide for yourself. Am curious for you…:)

I use Bragg's cider vinegar daily. 1 tablespoon with warm water…in my tea cup..I follow that with 1 tsp of real lemon juice. Use it for my arthritis, I am also a diabetic. The only weight loss secret that I know that works for the law of logic. I have to burn more than I take in. And if I slip and eat a food I shouldn't indulge in I make sure that I eat twice as much protein to off set the carbs. My A1C in the lst .three months was 7.1 down from 9.2. I have lost 42 solid pounds since 6/21/2013. I am eating four small meal a day…no more than 350 calories each…i am becoming cripple with that was my motivator. By the way I became morbidly obese after getting sidelined with asthma that forced my retirement from teaching. i was on prednisone for nearly 16 months. Wicked stuff for the body…great for the lungs!!

I got pretty sick on it the night I tried it. The first gallon went down well, but I had to force the second gallon down. Then I spent the rest of the night peeing. Never did test my blood sugar.

I have used it if I have a high. Work some but it wasn't a miracle. I use it for muscle cramps. Other than that, It doesn't do a thing from what I have read. I use diet control for weight loss. and there are no quick fixes for diabetes. You have to do what works for you.

I've lost 60 lbs and my a1c is great so I'm not trying to use it as a means of diabetes control, but just thought if it wked then it could be another tool in managing diabetes along w/ what I'm already doing… that's all

I do it at night before I brush my teeth to try to escape the eroded tooth enamel!! As far as BO goes… I don't think I'd care if it helps with diabetes & weight loss!! There are far worse things to smell than vinegar!!!!!

Had a couple of friends using a Tbsp of vinegar before each meal. They thought it would help with weight loss. Gave them a distinct BO of vinegar.

Howdy Sherelle!

There are no good double blind studies (of which I am aware) which have studied ACV (apple cider vinegar) does all the things they say it does. I do believe it does lower one's BG levels when taken orally. One caveat is that ACV (like lemon juice) is acidic, which erodes softens and erodes the enamel of one's teeth. It would be wise to rinse one's mouth thoroughly after taking ACV or lemon juice orally.

It will cause acid reflux and as James said erode the enamal on your teeth.

Yeah, especially after the first gallon.

Hey Jim, who's talking about gallons? A gallon of that stuff and I would probably regurgitate a lung, and pee out a kidney!

jigsaw 2013-11-10 17:44:55 -0600 Report

I hope it works! Oh, listen to James also, you wouldn't want a case of eroded tooth enamel, it looks terrible!
