Hi my endo recently discussed insulin pump therapy with me at my last appointment. But due to my recent job loss I loss a really good insurance plan along with it. But I was very fortunate to be able to get optima health medicaid they do pay for all of my insulin, test strips, syringes, and lancets so I am very thankful for that. But has anyone had any experience getting a insulin pump through Optima health Medicaid or any other Medicaid company in Virginia. Like what is the process? Do they need record if blood sugars, labs, etc? I have only been a type 1 diabetic for 3 years. I will talk more to my doctor about the process when I go I'm so glad his office accepts Medicaid so I don't have to change doctors. Anyway I just wanted to know if anyone got their insulin pump covered lately by any Medicaid company in Virginia if so please give me some insight into the process. Thanks

Your best bet is to contact whichever pump manufacturer you want to use and have them gather all the needed documents. That's what they are there for. They have teams of people that work specifically with different insurance companies and they will know what you qualify for and what your coverage is. All you have to de is give them your insurance info and they should take care of the rest. That's been my experience with my 2 pumps.
