I've been a type 1 for 3 years now and have always used novolog first in the pen and now in my pump. My insurance is not going to cover my novolog insulin any more and said my alternative is humalog. Has anyone change between the two medications before and was there any differances?

They gave me lantus (same people make humalog) when I was first diagnosed and I had reaction to it but I'm fine with novolog and levemir. I'd just be cautious and aware when you switch! :)

Not sure if it matters, but Lantus and Humalog are not made by same people. Lantus is made by Sanofi, but Humalog is made by Lilly.

I use the pen and love it!!! I get both, prescription is humalog, but I get pens of Novolog from my father-in-law now & then. I have found no difference, to me they are the same thing by different names.

I don't care for the pens and have never had a pump but have used both Novolog and Humalog and they are about the same in in vial
