I know what you mean. I suffer with depression and when I get down or upset, I eat. It is a problem. My husband just found out he has diabetes, his mother died from diabetes which scares the you know what out of me. We have type-2.

You've found a wonderful group of supportive and encouraging folks here who will help you in your journey to understand T2D (type 2 diabetes). The more you learn about diabetes, the better you'll be able to manage it and keep living the life you want. I do want to encourage you to reach out to your physician and health care team and let them know how you're feeling. ~Lynn @Glucerna

Glad to have you aboard. There are a lot of great folks here that are able to get you through those hard cravings and such. I have one who is coaching me in the Paleo diet and he is a HUGE help. So just ask away, we are here to support each other.

T2D is type 2 diabetes. There's more than one type of diabetes, and treatments vary depending on the type of diabetes and your individual situation. Some people find that as their blood sugar levels come under better control, they have fewer cravings. Please talk about this with your physician and health care team as well so they can help you make changes. ~Lynn @Glucerna

I consider myself a chocolate addict. Knowing T2D runs in my family makes me crave it even more. Especially when I'm having a bad day. I've learned to have substitutes on hand to reach for when I need them. When you say "food addiction" what do you mean? And how does that manifest itself in your daily life?
