I was just wondering if anybody has any good experiences with any fast food items? For example do any of you type 2 on diet controlled still able to eat subway sandwiches? 6 inch of course…lol no more footlongs for me! Or is their Amy other fast food places that have good entrees that still give reasonably good numbers? Please anybody help me out as I am always on the run…

Chic-fil-a has a diabetic exchange list on their website. I had the Cobb salad today and it didn't touch my BG. I was full and it rocked! 1carb serving. :)

There are quite a few fast food places that offer salads on their menus now. If you don't put much dressing on it, that can be a good low carb fast food option.

Bread is a no no for me. so I stay away unless II have the occasional slice of sourdough. To give myself a treat I will have a sandwich which has all the sides cut off so I end up with only about four bites. So unless I'm having a craving which doesn't happen often, I see no point. I don't like hidden stuff in my food so I will only eat a lettuce wrapped burger and 10 fries, I prefer sweet potatoes when there is a choice. But fast food just should not be a part of anyone's diet.

When you start reading the nutritional values of what they offer out there, there is not really a good fast food option. Even salads can have hidden carbs in there, so unless you bring your own dressing and just order a side salad with just veggies in can be a bust.

Even if you keep a carb meal in range with a fast food meal, there are so many other things in there that you don't want to eat.

For real fast food, its a baggie filled with stuff from home in a cooler.

Even after carefully questioning Fast Food employees about what will be included in a salad I have had several surprises:
More than once the food assembler makes the wrong salad - I end up spitting out corn while eating in the dark on the way to work, Hubby heads back to the drive thru and we get a free corrected salad.
Usually Blue Cheese dressing is the lowest carb option they offer and luckily it is my favorite. If they don't offer it, I enjoy no dressing salads.
Most have croutons or won ton or tortilla strips that I can pick out or not put on if they are in the cute little packages.
Sometimes I think it might be the preservatives that are keeping me going ;)

I order side salads alot…then order a grilled chicken sandwich plain. Cut up the chicken put it in my salad…for the dressing I squirt it in salad lid, then I dip my fork in it so I get a little without eating all of it

My fast food choice (when it comes to not cheating) would have to be salads. I have tried salads from all the fast food places in my area but truth be told the McDonald's chicken ceasar is the only one that doesn't elevate my numbers. Grilled chicken, romain lettuce, tomato, carrot slivers. This is without the croutons of course. I wait til I get home to eat it and put my own fat free dressing on it, so maybe that's the difference but Mickey D's gets my vote.

Subway will do any sub as a salad. You pick exactly what you want in it. Lots of places will do a burger without a bun, cottage cheese and lettuce with sliced tomatoes and onions. De structured sandwich spread across your plate. Yum!

I just skip the bread when doing subway. Same when a fast food burger urge hits. Scored some coupons for BOGO at Carl's Jr. They will wrap your burger in lettuce leaves, for the same price as in a bun. So I've been enjoying my BOGO bargain even more without having to toss the bun.
McDonalds fresh fruit parfait is another of my fast food treats. Been about a year since I had one, so I'd check out the nutrition info in case they changed the yogurt.

I didn't grow up with fast food so I stay away from it unless I am somewhere and have no choice but to eat it in a hurry. That is rare. Fast food really isn't good for anyone but that is my opinion. I had a subway 6 in sub over a month ago. It will probably be another 6 months before I have another. I prefer to fix my own food. That way, I can control everything I put in it.
