If I use a salad dressing with a high vinegar content then I take insulin for only half the carbs in my salad. I eat a 20 carb salad every day at 6-7pm. If I use a high vinegar dressing I bolus for 10 carbs or my BG will drop too low. I have read many posts on several sites that say vinegar can be used to lower blood sugar.

I read on one site tha a Type 2 diabetic took a half cup of vinegar and added an artifical sweetener and some cinnamon and drank it. Their BG dropped but I don't remember how much.

Does vinegar have the same effect on you folks?

I just started this trying Vinegar, mother -n- law suggested. I don't have high blood pressure so that worries me, I do not want to drop too low. However oddly enough it does help my stomach, hmm

Hi Richard!

I tried the vinegar for a while and it did help. Vinegar used with several juices is also supposed to help swollen joints. I had to stop using it because of stomach problems also. lol And no matter how I tried it, it still tasted awful. lol

if this is true, couldn't a person drink the vinegar and eat anything they wanted? just curious.

City girl, I think that cinnamon is a better choice (See the other post on this thread). You can buy cinnamon tablets at the drug stores. I don't think that vinegar pills exist. Lol! Drinking vinegar on a regular basis might make you turn into a pickle. We wouldn't want our city girl to turn sour like a pickle!!!

I have seen Apple Cider Vinegar pills at the store. Not sure what else is in them though.

Vinegar pills do exist. Can be found at Wal Mart. Inexpensive too. they also have the cinnamon pills too. I have been usingg the 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar before breakfast and dinner and the grinder cinnamon in tea and oatmeal. I also drink 1/2 glass of red wine a night. So far all of them together is giving me great numbers and no more morning highs. This morning I was 101. Last night before bed and after Christmas Dinner and sweets it was 141. Took my evening meds and was fine. I really believe these 3 things are the reason I am getting good numbers and of course watching portion control. But I tend to eat anything I want, just in moderation. And remain in range all day.

Hi Richard,
I tried the vinegar and it worked to lower mine but it also upset my already upset stomach. I do take 1000mg of cinnamon twice a day and my blood sugars have dropped to the normal range in a short time.
