When I was on insulin I tried out a couple different things to try to make sure I didn't drop too low at night, the best one I've found is a piece of whole wheat bread and freshly ground peanut butter before bed. (I did switch taking my long acting insulin to breakfast instead of bed time cause taking it at night was just causing me to wake up in the 60's covered in a cold sweat in the middle of the night.) I still use it now because if I go to bed without eating anything my numbers are way too high in the morning. As long as I'm below 200 before bed I have my snack. Try almonds too for when you get hungry, a small palm full helps me out in between meals sometimes.

Yep. Almonds (I count out 30 of them) are usually my go to snack of choice,. Which is why I keep them on hand. Another favorite is Garden Vegetable Wheat Thins with slices of sharp cheddar cheese.

There was some theorist back in the early 90's that believed that when insulin is released by our bodies naturally, that it triggers the hunger receptor as kind of a way to say "OK, time to eat now, I'm ready". Never really studied it further myself.

Yep ben there done that lol
I find that a High fiber snack not only stops the hunger but helps me with my BS as well by smoothing out my blood sugar.
Like two or three Trisects Low carb high fiber

Can't remember if I was hungry a lot when I started mine. Wonder if it has something to do with the insulin or your calorie intake for the day? What I do know is that my insulin makes my left ankle swell sometimes. That never happened til I started taking it. I hope someone chimes in with better insight for you. In the meantime, proceed with caution when it comes to night time snacking. Best of wishes to you.
