I am a Type 2. So, from what I understand, one of 2 things are happening. 1) my body is not producing enough insulin and/or 2) my body is producing enough insulin, but just can't use it. So…why or how does my BS sometimes go up when I have not eaten for a while? Yes, I know about eating smaller meals more often, and I know that my smaller meals are adding calories to my waistline. I think I am about to buy a head of lettuce and chomp into like it is an apple throughout the day.

Jim, When you do not eat your body releases stored glucose which is called glycogen to help feed itself what it needs, glucose!

This process also happens when we are under stress (not eating is translated by the body as stress) angry, in a "fight or flight" situation, just to name a few, so as a diabetic, we need to establish a regular schedule of eating meals.

Eating, and gaining weight can be a problem at times for diabetics, especially if you are taking insulin injections, one size doesn't fit all for diabetics so it may take some time for you to find the right formula (meals, medications, exercise, rest) that works for you, so before you have that drink, if it's an alcoholic beverage, read this:

Hang in there, diabetes can be frustrating at times but it is manageable, unlike some other chronic diseases, stay strong and give managing your diabetes your best shot!

Your body produces natural glucose on it's own, so what might be happening is that since you haven't eaten, your body thinks it needs the energy from glucose and will produce it's own. I want to say it's the liver that produces your body's natural glucose, but not sure on that…

Sorry, not getting any notifications when someone posts something. I know the body converts everything to sugar, but did not realize that it produces sugar on its own. I am ready to sell my diabetes on Ebay!
