I was notified two weeks prior to the start date that my Primary Care Doctor would no longer accept my Medicare Advantage Plan as of Aug 31. (My copay had been lowered from $10 to 0). I was going to Mima which is a large base of doctors who specialize in just about everything and there is a large number of doctors under each specialization. Including a lab that posts your results as soon as they are run but no later than 11pm. My specialists will still see me but my primary care dr won't and he monitors my diabetes and anemia and cholesterol etc. Mima changed their name to Health First. No, I don't want Health First insurance because it is exclusively HMO. Apparently, a lot of Medicare Advantage Plans are being denied by Primaries else where. Wouldn't you know I started having a hard time breathing. No pain. Just couldn't get a good deep breath. I didn't know where to go so I didn't go anywhere for over a week. I thought it would go away. It didn't. I went to an urgent care place. An X-ray said I had an asthma like acute bronchitis but it was so tight I thought there was no mucous in my lungs…until I took the medication which loosened it up. Problem solved? No. Who do I find to do my blood work every three months? Anyone else in this boat with me? I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks! Bunny

I left BCBS a few years ago when they really raised my price AND stopped paying for my diabetic supplies!. I did a lot of online searching and found Priority Medicare. They are actually here in my area and I can visit with a real person (very informed, nice ones!) to discuss anything I need. Do an online search to see what you can find…then they may have a doctor list so that you can find someone close who uses their plan. I hope you find something/one soon and continue to improve.

I hope you are feeling better and I also hope that you will be sharing your progress with what you do. I'm very afraid that as of October 1, there will be a lot of confusion. There more we can share here to help each other along the better it will go for all of us.

Good idea, old biker! I had just left my doctor of 5 years who changed her attitude toward medicare patients when Obama was elected. I even asked the new doctor how he felt about medicare patients. It is such a pain in the neck to change doctors when you have a bunch of different ailments to monitor.

There should be a customer service number somewhere on your ID card from your health provider. Call them up and ask for the name primary care doctor in your area that excepts their plan. If their plan is any good they should be more than happy to help you, If not I would look for another plan
