High morning levels

I have been on basal/bolus regime for about 14 years now, with HBA1Cs regularly coming out somewhere in the 7s.

At my most recent review it was 8.1 - which I was slightly disappointed at. Having altered strategy to take my Lantus at 1.30pm I now find my levels creep up about 5 or 6 points while I'm sleeping, despite being fine when I go to bed. None of my meals have been too carb-heavy.

Any ideas?

Have you talked to your doctor about adjusting your dosage? Perhaps over time, your basal needs have increased slightly.

Just a thought.

14 years is a good long consistent run. You gotta know that is going to change with age at some point as your metabolism does. Have you tried a higher protein snack before bed?
