Hi! I have gastroparessis (caused from Polio). If your wife isn't on pain meds for the pain. You might ask the doctor if fentanyl pain patches. It is the only pain med that even starts to help with the pain for me. I have a g-tube that my husband feeds me liquid suppliment with. I use the suppliment on the days that the pain is terrible. I will pray for your wife. As I know what the pain is like. I hope the doctor can get her diabetis under control.
Have a Merry Christmas

I do not have this problem, but it sounds to me that if this continues and your doctor does nothing to help remedy the situation, I would be changing doctors. This just doesn't sound right to me.

I'm sorry to hear that your wife is in pain. There is nothing worse than having to watch loved ones suffer.

As for your doctor's orders, I'm a little confused. How long are you supposed to keep up this routine? Is she having major low-blood sugar or high-blood sugar episodes in the night?

I understand the need to establish what is going on during the night. But I can't imagine any doctor ordering testing all through the night, twice a week, forever!?!

I would double-check with your doctor. Especially if your wife isn't experiencing major highs or lows during the night. Once you kind of have an idea of what's going on in the night, your doctor should be able to make any necessary adjustments to medications or routine and you should be OK for a while at least.

I guess I do have one friend who wakes up every night at midnight to test. But she has hypoglycemia unawareness and has a real problem with dropping low in the night.

But I would think having your sleep interrupted so much so often is actually worse for your health than many other things.

Sorry to ramble on so much.

my wife is both both severe high and lows she is currently on an animas 2020 insulin pump and she still has regular high and low blood sugars and lets not forget hypo unawarness my wife has been able to function in the 25-30 range b.s she also has gastroparesis and diabetic nueropthy and she had brain surgery 7 months ago for epileptic seizures and doing that surgery they had to cut a muscle and jawbone to remove the dead brain tissue and now it's causing her pain to and i just feel like the doc's want me to watch my wife slowly die

my wife has diabetes because her pancrease was removed at about 3 weeks old that part the doc's had nothing to do with however later on she had extremly high blood sugars and her a1c has always been between 7.4 and 15.0 and the doc;s never did anything about it except for moving around her insulins but months later when they saw that did not help they stoped treating her for the high's and when i as the husband and legal guardian asked about an insulin pump we were told no so i fired the first doc and got another and the same thing happened and he got fired to now we are on the third doc and i may have to fire her to oh and i forgot along with the gastroparesis she has because of the high blood sugars she also has diabetic nueropothy wonderful isn't it danielle's nuero increased her nuerontin from 600 to 900 three times a day and she's not herself anymore she sleeps alot i spoke to the insurance company about trying a cgms and the ins. company said said no it's experimental and they and the endo doc's in ann arbor want my wife and me to go to the hospital every time she has 2 or more low or high blood sugars in an 8 hour period my wife 7 months ago underwent brain surgery because of epilepsy and now she has a scar that extends down to the top of her right ear because they had to cut the muscle and jawbone to remove dead brain tissue that was causing the seizures and now my wife gets some exreme pain due to the diabetic nueropathy and when i spoke to the doc's at u of m about a cgms i was told why am i the doc's going to write out the paperwork for your wife who is on medicaid and ssi when i have patients that are on b.c.b.s ins. and can't get one i told them i don't understand why the doc's would say that the cgms sompany was willing to ;et us try it as long as we bought a box of sensors $240.00 and i finally had to speak with patient relations to get them to agree to do it she is now trying the cgms and her blood sugars are alot better and at the end i plan on presenting this info to the doc's and insurance company and if they still say no i plan to sue because without it my wife is a ticking timebomb just like my mother and my aunt both dead now due to diabetes
