i do not know if all diabetics feel this. when my sugar rises so does my body temperature, when my sugar starts going down so does my body temperature. why is this? my doctor said she has never heard of this before. is this happening with other diabetics also?

I've noticed that when my body temperature is high, especially if my hands are red after a shower or doing dishes that my FBS is also higher by 30-40 points. If I wait a half hour or so and let them cool down my FBS will often drop by that much. So my question is, does high body temperature raise blood sugar levels and if so why? Does the higher BS reflect what my arterial BS is, as opposed to capillary, or is there some other physiological reason why higher body temperature raises blood sugar levels. Anyone have an answer or know where I can get one?

I have the feeling of being hot then cold, but I did not assoicate it with my blood sugar. I am really going to check this now. Thanks for bring it up.

I do the same thing when mine is high I feel like I have a fever almost and when it is low I freeze to death. Glad to hear I am not the only one I kind of thought I was imagining things…

when my bs is high so is my temp. my face goes red aswell as my skin. i also sweat. Then when it goes low i find i go very pale and cold!!

I believe there is deffo a link between the two!

Hi Jennifer,

This used to happen to me. I am sure it still does, but for a few years, I have been taking so many different medications for other problems that I have that I can't tell any more if the meds are doing it or the highs and lows of my sugar count.

Jennifer I always feel cold with very low BG's and very warm with high BG's. I take off some clothes when high and grab extra clothes when low. I do not think that the actual body temperature changes much, if at all. I put on a sweater on a hot summer day if I have a bad hypo. That is not happening so much now since my pump keeps my BG's within range the great majority of the time.

I have never heard of this, but it is something that I could ask my dr about.
