I have always been very skinny as you can tell from the subject.. that's my nick name and I just got on the insulin pump but I'm having trouble finding places with enough fat to put my site. The only place is my stomach and I know you're supposed to alternate sites. I'm having so much trouble trying to find new spots. Anyone else with this problem? Maybe some advice?

When I was diagnosed I was given a chart for alternating the shot areas. There were 6 circles about an inch in diameter next to each other. If you can make the chart as I have told you about, then you really shouldn't have any trouble with alternating the areas

I can't say I can't relate as I have quite a bit of fat tissue (even if I weigh 140lbs) But I can say that when I went for my pump training there was an 8 year old girl there who was veeeery skinny. When she put her first pump sight in she put it on her back (love handles) even though there wasn't much fat. My advice would be to try different places and see which ones work better. I tend to not use my legs just because I have a lot of scares. Hope this helps! :)

Hi Sydney. When I started on the pump I was very thin also and it was difficult to find sites. I use a Medtronic pump and the infusion set I use is the silhouette. It also comes with an inserter which I highly recommend because it makes "change out" virtually painless!. It goes in at an angle and not straight in for those with less body fat. I also use my mid to lower back region and my upper buttocks when my belly needs a break from built up scar tissue from using the same area repeatedly. Good luck…I know it can be frustrating and painful which leads to less changing of the infusion set which can elevate your blood sugars keeping it in the same place for too long…I'm guilty of that myself.

Yes! I'm new on the pump and also very thin. This has been an issue for me as well. I am also using a cgm so it's two sites I have to try to alternate. I use the omnipod. I rotate from my backside below the waist just above the pant line. Then alternate sides of my lower abdomen. I've been told the inner thigh. Basically anywhere you would give an injection. I don't know if that helps you or not. Good luck with everything. :-)
