Just having a bad patch. Ate samosas (a very rich in carbohydate item extremely popular here in Pakistan/india). Now sugar level at around 300 mg/dl (16.2 mmol). But its okay, rough patches are there… :( and yet :)

Seems I'll have to work out some low carb recipe and share it here :D For the time being "DON'T GET NEAR THEM" is all I can advise :D

I absolutely love samosas. They are absolutely the worse thing to eat with diabetes but they are so good to eat. I learned just how bad it was for me after eating one. Like you said it is a bad patch but I learned my lesson. Next time I will eat half and take a walk and eat the other half the next day and take a walk.

Really yummy and tasty… But you know once you have a spike as an aftermath, you start hating these things for coming month or two :D

I'm like that too. I have a tendency to overeat when I am low and instantly forget that I need just 15 grams of Carbs. I'll drink juice after juice and pop a snack and then in the following minutes to hours, I am feeling worse than when I was low. Smh. Now I'm sitting there in less than 3hrs trying to bring down a high blood sugar that not too long ago was low. When I am low, all that is on my mind is just getting out of the state of low blood sugar.

Just read what samosa are and I would be tempted to indulge myself. They sound similar to pierogi (sigh) with different seasoning and deep fried. My BG might have spiked just reading about them.
Would there be a way to mimic the taste with some safer subs? I managed to make a passable chili relleno with almond flour and not deep fried to keep a craving at bay.
For a pierogi I have wondered if subbing sweet potato, since it doesn't spike me, for the potato. Today I tried a purple sweet potato starch noodle (a product from China) that did not spike my BG. I have some sweet potato flour and am wondering if I can make a dough. Then with the right ingredients it might make a passable pierogi or samosa.
Glad you enjoyed your samosas and hope your BG is better by now.

Graylin do they have the sweet potato flavor?

Found some at Whole Foods several months ago. It is Sweet Potato Heritage Camote Flour from Zocalo Gourmet made in Peru. They had several types of flours in an area marked Gluten free. I don't remember what the others were made from.

I will look when I go to the supermarket I saw some in Big Lots but because I was in a hurry I didn't take time to really look at the box. Thanks will check Whole Foods also.

Graylin I first had them at an international festival and fell madly in love with them about 10 years ago. I had one right after I was diagnosed and the spike lasted for 12 hours.

Glad I wasn't around , when the samosas were! No doubt I probably would have lost control and eaten one too.

Jigsaw, I now stay away from them. I also stay away from the polish bow tie cookies that are fried and covered in powdered sugar.

LMBO tie me beside you. I did indulge in funnel cake but I did that after setting up our tent and tables. I ate a piece of grilled chicken then got the funnel cake. After I ate it I walked around the entire event. I was a little high but I was happy as a clam.
