I was officially diagnosed with T2 Diabetes yesterday. Today, I met with the Disease Control and mgmt ladies, also one of the diabetes educator to go over stuff and received some reading material. It all started with gestational diabetes I'm guessing. My baby is 5 months old, I am still breastfeeding, therefore the doctor didn't want to start me on any medication because none is approved to take while breastfeeding other than insulin. She wants me to try and control it with diet and exercise. My A1C was 6.6 and my fasting glucose was 124.7. I am to check my bs 1xweek. The diabetes educator said my fasting is to be under 120 and 2hr after meals under 160. It is a lottttttttttttttttttttt to take in considering I am dealing with really bad anxiety as well and really bad sleeping because of the baby. It is a bit overwhelming even though I sort of knew that I was going to be diagnosed with T2. Ugh…this totally stinks speaking truthfully. But I know I can do this! I know I can totally adapt to this new lifestyle and be a better and healthier me, not only for myself, but for my baby, my family, and my husband. =]

Welcome to diabetic connect
Congratulations on your brand-new baby
You do need to step back there's a lot going on right now for you
It can be very overwhelming
You need to take steps Little at a time
Research and educate yourself
What works for one diabetic it does not necessarily mean it will work for you
Good luck

Hi Tammy. Yes, there is a lot going on right now. Its a little hard with my husband having to work 16 hour work shifts and with the baby, but I think I am managing fairly ok for right now. I am looking into taking a 4 hour diabetes class that is offered at my hospital. I've been doing my research and learning how to read labels and all that, but I think I need to get my hands on a good diabetic book from the book store, or a cook book. Im also going to go buy myself a small grill this weekend to inspire myself to cook a little healthier. This is hard, but I know all these changes are for the best.

Hi Harlen. Thank you for the well wishes =] oh yea Ive got a very active baby. Seems to learn something new every day. =] I'm taking this a day at a time. Good thing is that my husband is starting to understand what I can and cant eat and is helping me with that, so that itself definately helps.
