I personally don't think points matter. That is not what we are here for.

Exactly, I am NOT here for points and they do not matter to me at all. But I do think for some it does. Posting and posting just to post 1-2 words to every comment on every discusion seems to me all about points. I only post if I can write a sentence or paragraph(in my case) and I try to do it to be helpful or give my advice on a situation I have experienced. Or to ask a question, usually diabetic related.

Nope they don't matter. They are simply a tool. They are an indication of activity and it does help us know who might be newer to the site. Perhpas give them a little extra help if they need it. But that is pretty much it. I don't even "see" them anymore, and if you are really here to learn about how to deal with your diabetes or help us be better as well, then you just add what you want to help other people or learn for yourself.

You are so right; points are more or less to track your activity that you have had on the site. Only pertinent to you. But, I guess some people think the more points they have, the better they are liked? I am not really sure. We all pick and choose what we want to post or reply; etc. It is NOT about the points; It is more important to be here to learn and contribute what you know. Thanks for post; Claudia
