I get headaches when I am high. I get dizzy when I am low. I have never noticed a headache when I am low.

Yea it was weird for me when I had that headache when my BSL was low cause normally I have headaches only when my BSL are high. I have noticed getting dizzy too when my BSL is low. It just sucks all the way around.

thats the suckish part! some of the symptoms for highs and lows are the same! like headaches, blurry vision, hungry and being tired it doesnt hurt to test to make sure :)

It all depends on how long you have been experiencing highs - your body may be used to it and when are trying to get your blood sugar under control or if it's dropping dramatically then you may get headaches. I would advise you to speak with your doctor to see he/she pin point the cause. I hope this helps. Tremecia

Lows cause a little irratability, light headed feeling; highs don't do anything since I don't let it get that high.

Yes, low sugar can cause headaches, I find. The difference for me, is if I am edgy and irritable along with the headache, then my sugar is definitely low.

Was just told that at ER just this past Sunday!

Honestly, just figured that out in the last month or 2. I work customer service at home, and toward the end of my shift (and dinnertime), I start getting impatient with my callers lol! Maintaining normal blood sugars is important for my job security lol!!

It probably sucks to have headaches when you're High and then when you're Low…but if you think about it…you're kinda lucky. No need for a continuous monitor! Since you are one! Just check your BS, pop a Jolly Rancher or take some insuling. Sweet!!

Hi! As has already been mentioned here, every diabetic is different. I only get headaches when I have high BSLs, never lows, but I also get them at other times, too. So I start by testing first…if its high, I try drinking water and taking a walk, if its normal, I have a protein snack and some Tylenol. That's just me. Let us know what works for you! :)

Thanks rebelove. Last night when I found put my sugar was low I ate something to bring up my sugar and my headache did finally leave. But I do normally check my sugar when I have headaches to see how high it is cause I don't normally have headaches when it's low but I did last night.

Honestly, my highs and lows never give me headaches. Although it is very possible both happen to give you headaches(after all, no two diabetics are quite the same), you also should take into account that sometimes you might just be getting normal headaches that everyone gets.
I know I constantly forget other people get the same issues I do, and sometimes my same issues aren't diabetic related.

I have headaches when it is too low for me-once I go into the 80's I get one-sometimes I haven't had enough water either and in the heat we are having here in New England it is tough to keep up with it, maybe more fluids will help-good luck
