I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on July 1st… And I have been having major headaches.

My doctor said it was from adjusting to finally getting insulin in me and everything.. I found out I had diabetes from a urine test, I never went into DKA.

Any advice, for the headaches?

I had the same type of issue after being diagnosed a month ago. Not as much headaches- sometimes stomach pain. My sugar was so high for so long that when its normal my body feels like it is too low. Has it gotten better after time?

That's too bad. I can imagine how bothersome headaches are. Different things work for different people. I think your doctor is right and it is your body adjusting. I use different things for headaches because I don't always like to reach for a pill (but sometimes you do have to). Stretching, relaxing, meditating, yoga…lots of things work for different people. Sometimes just something cold on your head or back of your neck works.

If they continue, you need to call your doctor just to make sure.

Are you watching your carb intake?
Have your doctor set you up to take some classes and work with the nutritionist!
