Hi…I'm new here. It'll be 14 years that I've had diabetes this coming fall. I'm really just hoping to find help for issues I may be having and also to be able to help everyone out as well. I'm very excited to be a part of this community.

(Also, incase you didn't notice, my user name it BroadwayGirl. I did this because 1. I love live love musical theater, and 2. The initials make out BG, I kinda thought that was cool.)

I just got type 1 diabetes in January at age 15, but I am getting the pump soon any good things about it?

BroadwayGirl 2013-07-12 19:34:06 -0500 Report

Oh it's great! It made my life so much easier! :) as long as you listen to what your doctors tell you to do with it it makes life so much easier! The only thing I wish I knew when I got it, whenever your blood sugars are consistently high and if you feel sick and your sugar won't come down, take a shot and change your site (the part the pump connects to). If I knew this from the start I would've spent a lot less time in the hospital as a child.

Hello Broadway and welcome. given that you have been living with this inconvenience for years, i know i can't tell you anything new. All I can do is say welcome and congrats. This is the best place to be for questions and answers for all things diabetes. I love this site and hope you will come to feel the same way too. We are a family here. So, don't get put off by our occasional fights. It happens. But know that we respect everyone here and no question is taken lightly or any concern passed over. We are here for you and we hope you are here for us as well.

Welcome! What is the best Broadway show you have ever seen? I would have to say Les Mis!

BroadwayGirl 2013-07-11 11:50:48 -0500 Report

I've only ever saw the movie version of les mis(unfortunately) but I did see mama Mia, jersey boys, and wicked and I honestly can't pick a favorite! They're amazing!

I loved Mamma Mia, I saw it in Australia. So fun. I read the book Wicked and always wanted to see it.
