Discoloration in my legs

I have had diabetes for 34yrs. I have brown spots and the skin looks brown on my legs. I'm not in pain and I don't have numbness or tingling. I do get swelling tho. Does anyone know of something I can do to treat this. It's so embarrassing now that it's summer when people ask you what's wrong with your legs or look at you like they are going to catch something.

I have been to a few doctors and they tell me it's normal for someone with diabetes who had it for a long time. I have gotten creams from several doctors but all for dry skin but not for the brown patches and spots. This is why I'm reaching out to the community to see what others say.
