Clinics might have free meters, too. I lost mine and my dr gave me a free style meter. The strips were out of date but it had everything else. Medicare only allows one stick a day. I don't do mine every day but sometimes I will do a pre and post in the same day. Good luck! 2013-06-26 22:01:44 -0500 Report

I have just gotten me a new meter. I only paid 17.00 for the meter and the test strips are 9.00 a box at wal-mart. The meter I am talking about is the relion prime

I have been given meters by doctors. I cannot afford the strips. So, I got the Walmart Relion machine. It is a much cheaper version of the other machines. You can tell just by holding it and trying to insert the strips. I have also found the readings to be off (by re-testing with my other meters and strips). However, it is an excellent deal. 50 strips for $9 as opposed to $60 and higher. Just beware that you get what you pay for!

This site has nova Max Plus Meter advertisement and it is for a free meter. Click on the site and follow the directions. I think mine arrived in 2 weeks or less.

Try checking with your doctor. They usually have meters to give for free. And perhaps he can work out something with the manufacturer to provide strips for you. He may even have sample strips he could give you.
