Good Morning Group, i hope you all are doing well.

By accident, i switched up my insulin this morning. I was to take 60 Lantus and 30 Humalog for breakfast. Instead, i took 60 Humalog. I realized my mistake and so did not take my Lantus at all.

Has this ever happened to you? What did you do?

I am really nervous about this wondering how this mistake will affect me. Any help would be very appreciated.

I am only using the Lantus at bedtime and my doctor put me on Victoza for my dinner shot. My doctor said Victoza is better than Humalog because for me I need to still lose some weight. I have forgotten to take my insulin on occasion but not mixed up the dosage. Just relax and keep your cool and watch more carefully when setting up your shots. Short term you might get too low but just watch your readings the rest of the day and try not to stress.

I bet you already called your doctor! I have done the same thing, and fortunately, there were no serious or drastic changes in my blood glucose levels. Of course I monitored my readings very closely, and adjusted my insulin levels accordingly. Naturally I was prepared with some fast acting carbs just in case, and I called my endo also.
The scariest situation was when I accidently double dosed! I experienced a rapid and sudden drop in my blood glucose. My legs felt like rubber, and I didn't think I could make it 5 feet to my glucose meter. Well, I did and my bg had dropped to 40!!! I immediately started consuming fast acting carbs. Within 15 min or so my bg began to rise, and within an hour, it went high. Suffice to say it all turned out ok.
Now I keep my Humalog and my Lantus in completely different locations. I also utilize a few methods to make sure I don't double dose again!

That must have been scarey for you…glad it turned out alright.

I don't know why i should go to Emerg? My Doctor and the Diabetes Clinic is closed for the weekend so along with this board i am on my own.

Just had my snack and tested 6.2 which is just perfect!

No harm done. All is well. Thanks for posting :) Denise
