Feeling tired a lot? If you are the diabetic, tiredness can be one of the symptoms. The first step to feeling better is to talk to your doctor. He may suggest a plan to boost your energy level and might include: EXERCISE: Move more and you get more energy. People who exercise are less tired than those who do not. Even if you have 10 minutes at a time and can do 3 x day, making 30 minutes a day it is going to make a difference. WATCH YOUR DIET: To keep your blood sugar level steady, eat 3 healthy meals plus a snack each day. Include healthy carbs from fruits, vegetables, whole grains, as well as lean protein from sources like beans, fish or skinless chicken. WATCH YOUR CAFFEINE LATE IN THE DAY: It may keep you awake and disturb your sleep and can make it hard to control your blood sugar if you have too much. STAY HYDRATED:
You can become very tired if you are dehydrated. Make sure you have lots of fluid all day.
GET ENOUGH B VITAMINS: this helps with nerve health. Good sources are fish, chicken, eggs and fortified cereals.

After I was diagnosed I was advised to avoid meat completely. So I turned into a vegeterian. Then what should I eat?

Thanks MewElla, a little refresher course with some great information! With summer here it's so easy to be tempted. Now is the time for grilling lots of veggie kabobs and lean protein!

My problem is I do not like chicken or turkey in any form. With the exception of fresh picked apples and pears; I do not like other fruits at all.

Just curious, what is your source of protein? Do you eat beef and pork, or are you a vegetarian?

I eat beef, and pork, and a little fish (fresh caught); I also eat potatoes, beans(all kinds) , some salad, as far as vegitables, I will eat most if they're raw, will not touch them if cooked unless they're in soup. That's one of my main problems, I'm not a big eater and am a "fussy" one at that. On top of that, I rarely, if ever, snack on anything , with the exception being a little popcorn or a handfull of nuts once in a while. I do try things I know I haven't liked in the past to see if I can acquire a taste for something, but it rarely works out.
