I am a type 1 for about 28 years now. On a pump with a sensor that works fairly well. I have had episodes in the past (like 15 years ago, pre pump) where I had severe lows in the middle of the night. My issue now is I still overcompensate at night because I can't trust this won't happen again. My basal at night is 1/4 of what it is during the day but I still feel the need to eat a snack before bed AND cut by basal even more overnight if my sugar is 150 or below before going to bed. The obvious result is I wake up very high the next morning. Does anyone else have this problem? If so what do you do to get over the fear of having more lows?

I just bought a Dexcom G4 Platinum CGM for the same reason, I sometimes drop really low during the night. The G4 has been super accurate, and I can program it to sound an alert (vibrates and rings) if I get to high or too low. It has worked every time so far. I keep my low alarm set at 80, so if I drop below 80 during the night it will wake me up before I get way too low.

Hi! I just recently got on a pump ( type 1 for 21 years). I recently had the opposite effect where I would go high in the night and not know why. I also had fears that increasing my basal would put me too low. Do you notice anything before you sleep, like highs ?
