Vinegar. Plain old vinegar. It takes the sting out and will help the burn heal and not peel.

Apply a light coating of pure aloe vera to the sunburned skin, using either a fresh piece from the plant or in the gel form you can buy at the drugstore. If you buy the gel, make sure it’s 100% pure aloe vera.

believe it or not vinegar takes the sting out…smells a little but the next day you are pain free

I use noxema and I love it. I'm pretty fair skinned so I make sure to pack it on all our vacations. A few years ago my friends and I headed down to Puerto Rico. The first day out we spent about 6 hours out on the ocean snorkeling, so most of the time we had our backs to the sun. When we got back to the hotel we were all bright hot red! Luckily my friend had packed the noxema and we just piled it on. The trick is letting it dry then rinsing it off. It takes the sting away and is too easy not to use.

Here in Syracuse sunburn is a rare ocurance since we have less sun than any major city. However, I use white vinegar and that takes away the sting

Sunburn is possible ANYWHERE… Some of the cloudiest days can produce some of the worst sunburns. Please always keep that in mind. Always wear sunblock or protective clothing… the best thing is to just stay OUT of the sun whenever possible. Be safe. :-)

Amen! Amen! I agree with you whole heartedly. I am very fair skinned & a redhead to boot. I keep a long sleeve shirt, Bimini Bay brand, which has SPF of 45, in both of our cars for protection.
