Hello everybody, I am home from my lap band surgery recovering slowly eating my jelly and clear chicken broth, it is a big diet change but will be worth it in the long run. The doctors are a bit disappointed that I still need all of my medication to keep my diabetes in a safe range, but I will take it one day at a time.

Congratulations on successfully getting passed the surgery! A little patience along with your strength and determination, and I promise to congratulate you when you reach your goal! Just a matter of time.

So glad to hear from you and that surgery is now in the past. Recovery may be slow and bring some really big changes w/r/t diet, but hopefully, with time and bodily adjustment, also changes w/r/t your medications. I've heard a range of times for the body to adjust and the pancreas begin to pick up the slack again, so don't give up hope that the change you want will come. Even if you aren't med. free at first, as you lose weight from the lap band, you will probably begin to require less medication. May not happen exactly as you hope, but the path should still be a positive one towards better health.

When I had my TAH the docs said it might take awhile for some of the organs to bounce back after the anesthesia , maybe the pancreas and liver are still dozing.

so glad it is over and you are recovering!! Hoping in time and I am sure, you will need less medications, had a friend who had this done, not an internet friend, someone I knew personally and another who had gastric bypass and the one who had the latter, had diabetes and it was in remission and still is. Praying for you.
